Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

This is the latest report:

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/bMbEJftRqiSp

But the biggest buff for firepower would be the ready rack (Report 1 and report 2 )

but the devs seem to be content to leave the Challenger 2 untouched after the dev post we had about a year ago. Its a shame they arent willing to address any other reports, including those challenging the changes made in that dev post

but its a rifled gun right? so the penetration isnt as good right? (also yes i know it was kinda a bad shot)

Gaijin and realistic penetrations have never gotten along well

Yeah 😭

The new sight ring is cool though :)

did they remove the wind sensor thing from the roof of all the challenger 2’s? i remember seeing it on one of them and not the others, and now none of them have it.

like, i remember seeing pictures of the standard challenger 2 in game having it, but now its just… gone. is this a Mandela effect or something? pretty sure its part of the FCS to help lead targets at range accurately, though i may be wrong. either way, odd its missing, or odd they removed it.

It was always folded. There is a report to make it unfolded tho.

on the models currently, its not even folded; its just straight up removed on all of them. just a hole where it should be.

Yeah they never had them. Only the CR3 demonstrator was modelled with it

I knew I saw it in game somewhere, so that must have been where I saw it. I haven’t played for a while, so it was bugging my head that it was missing.

it is there

that is the sensor

folded under a plate

ahh! understood. yeah it should be “deployed” then, when in battle. looks like gaijin have acknowledged it over a year ago with no change.

edit: the “Crusader” skin for the regular challenger 2 is now broken as well, as you cant rotate it to get the decals on the composite skirts anymore, making them just black panels. I made a bug report here;

Is there any news if they will increase the ready rack count?

None yet.

But a thread like this will appear every dev thread until it does

They wont change it man.
Theres so much wrong with the challanger 2s genuinely makes me sad to see it.

Or the leclercs as well

Or thr arietes.

Sorta makes me feel like unless u play the big 3 its meaningless to play.

Unfortunately, this is a sentiment felt by many. Each new vehicle added to the non big three nations feels like it’s a token rather than it being added because it needs it, considering they have so many things to fix with the existing vehicles that are never looked at. It’s a “we will give them another vehicle, rather than fixing whats already there so they stop talking about it for a while” kinda deal.

I’d rather they look at challenger 2, add all the missing bits and features and fix the bugs with it, and the stormer, and do the same to that, general bug fixes and overhaul, than have them throw another vehicle at us that doesn’t do anything new to the tech tree (the scimitar is just a tracked fox and i cant imagine its br will be much different considering) - but instead we get vehicles to silence us about the pre existing problems with the vehicles already there.

-Challenger 2’s steering has been a problem from the start and has never been addressed.
-Challenger 2’s METEO device has always been missing.
-Challenger 2’s Barracuda net has never worked, and despite all the new camo nets it’s only now getting a visual rework to match camo’s applied to the vehicle, but not a physical model update.
-Stormers missiles still phase through aircraft
-Stormer is still missing some key radar features such as IFF among other things
-Stormer starstreak still has tracers despite them being smokeless, non tracer irl.
-Stormer missiles are still picked up by RWR despite being a visual guidance system

aswell as many, many more; but “here. have a the scimitar, its basically a worse warrior and a better fox, oh and its coming with nerfs to the gun. enjoy!” give us new stuff, when the old stuff is fixed.

youre absolutely spot on man, and its through all the BRs as well.

Look at the chieftains for example alone, the Mk5 is missing its LRF (whihc got accepted) and L15A5 round.
or in air, the javaline, the jet specifically renowned for breaking the sound barrier over london cant go mach.

The other minor nations, such as the amx30s in game arent stabilised, but thats because IRL they had a different system that meant the gunner sight was stabilised and the gun would fire when it lined up with the sight, (massive simplification) but is what it did, but in game, nope u gotta suffer like mad with 8.7 no stabbed stuff. ( i love them for sniping but any CQC maps you may as well eat sand)

or what the OF40 MTCA getting DM33 after its been released for how many years? xD
Type 89 nerfed into the ground.

This isnt even touching all the top tier stuff i mean challanger 2 armour is useless in game, the tank renowned world wide for its armour may as well be toilet paper in game.
on top of that, IRL it keeps up with most Nato tanks Cross country due to the suspension system same as the cheiftain in tests kept up with leopard 1 but yeah here we are.

i mean i know theres small issues in other trees, but im on a different topic rn where yet another USA main is demanding the DU inserts in the hull, the turret ring buff, etc etc n its like brother the abrams rn is one of the better top tier tanks xD

edit, also had someone say and i quote “Abrams has superior protection level than Challenger 2 in real life, Challenger 2 even lacks blowout panels which became standart protection level for almost any Nato tank. Not to mention current Challenger 2’s armor overperforming in this game, you have no idea what you’re talking about.” when i said that IRL the abrams is less protected than challanger 2.
