We sure did. But why stop there? I whonder how many parts we can make untill bot gaves up :)?
When will Challenger 2E be moved below Challenger 3ATD?
Never.
I’d give higher credence to the Secretary of State for Defence than I would the random person who runs the QRH twitter account. In my experience the people running social media accounts at an organisation are often fairly far removed from the people actually doing the work / “in the know”. It’s entirely possible they just googled “CV12-9A” saw it could do 1,500 hp and went with that as an answer. Granted I don’t know how the army run their social media accounts.
At the end of the day:
- HAAIP has never really been about increasing engine power
- A respected defence journalist has explained how the people he’s spoken to at various industry events have confirmed that in order to run the CV12-9A at 1,500 hp the HAAIP power pack would need to have a further improved cooling system, which the MOD has not funded.
- The Secretary of State for Defence has stated that the CV12-9A is planned to be operated at 1,200 hp in the CR2.
So at the moment I’d say the evidence points towards the engine remaining at 1,200 hp.
I get it, we all want a 1,500 hp CR2. But relying solely on the QRH tweet seems like picking the outcome you want and selectively choosing evidence which supports it, rather than evaluating all of the available evidence and coming to a conclusion on what the most likely situation is.
So until there is at least some other evidence for a 1,500 hp engine in the CR2 I’m going to conclude that it, unfortunately, won’t be happening.
For me it’s more why not give it the benefit of the doubt its a TD not a finalised tank. They will be experimenting with various systems (some will make it, some wont)
The finalised version absolutely if it rolls out with a 1200hp power pack then by all means model it that way
Something was done. Not sure what tho.

It’s mad we are begging for 300 extra hp…Thats how far the CR tanks have fallen
Unfortunately, there is still no change in the engine compartment in the newly manufactured prototype.
If he has a heat dissipation change similar to the engine compartment of Oman Challenger 2/Troy, then there is sufficient evidence to show its important changes.
Yep, no external changes
Here is to another 10,000 posts of nothing.
Which I’ll happily admit is what I’m doing.
Then again, I have an extremely low opinion of anyone that is part of the “government” and has the words “Minister” or “Secretary of State” in their job title.
Except Ben Wallace, of course.
Not that it justifies it, but my understanding is that Gaijin’s “justification” for fitting the 1200hp engine in WT was that it was the one going on the Production tank (as stated by the SoS in a Question in Parliament) - if that was the case, then the CR3 needs to, well, for starters be renamed from the Tech Demonstrator, and iirc it also needs Spall Liners.
that’s the same logic they had for initially giving it 1500hp also, LEP was a different project to HAAIP so BAE and Rhm had no reason to look at engine upgrades, or include any engine upgrades in their respective demonstrators. The CR3 demonstrator is, as far as I’m aware, still the same as it was prior to May of 2021 (though i believe now the turret has been removed from the hull)
Go for it
@DevilO6 You seem to have forgotten to put this report in the CR3 section ^^

Challenger 3 TD at 11.3 would make it more viable.
I forgot nothing, i just posted the raw from Morv as of now, i will work on it later.
Yeah… I’ve been procrastinating updating that list for months… Tag your it :P
Thank god for German mains trying to keep the CR tanks down…
I’m not trying to do anything of the sort, I just noticed a historical inaccuracy after I saw a model of the Rheinmetall Challenger 2 upgrade, so I reported it.
