the shir 2 as it sits is one of if not the best challenger in the game
put into service in 1983. it started development in 1977 and started testing i believe in 1980 then was put into sevice in 1983 so it is possible
also how would it be better at 9.3 with apds? a sub 300mm of pen sabot at that br is stupid
It makes sense it would be 9.3 if they removed the APFSDS.

They are different tanks.
The 4030 was a development for IRAN, as a export tank, it was HEAVILY modified by the British army before it was selected for service and started production in 1983.
The tanks are not the same. at all. The 4030s had a entirely different Chobam Array, that was weaker, a different fire control system,
Why are people picking on the 4030 now, it’s probably once of the best br’d and balanced tanks within the brit tree.

L23 entered the prototype stages a year after the 4030 Program died.
THATS THE PROBLEM. L15A5 should be flat penning 362mm at Point blank, But gaijin won’t listen.

they just lazily copy and pasted the already inaccurate L15A3 stats like the lazy devs they are, and called it a day.

Moving a tank down, with a few nerfs is making it nicer IMO.
There would be nothing wrong with taking the Dart away from the 4030, giving it the correct L15A5, and moving it down.
It also shouldn’t have a LRF, as it used the older Chieftain Mk5 FCS, Pre the addition of the LRF. because it was a export tank.
Shouldn’t Gaijin weaken its armor even more? So that it can go down further.
The armor as it is ATM is accurate to the 4030s actual stats from what i can find, the array was not as stout as the Production challengers.
And id say it wouldn’t be a HUGE issue moving it down, because you still have things with DM33 and 3BM-22 that can pen it with ease.
The actual Challenger is far more a issue for those tanks.
We forget about the Thermals + ESS on a tank with good armor “Chally 1”. Would be massive if you’re a good player vs plenty of tanks with zero therms, no good composite armor to withstand APFSDS let alone HEAT rounds.
I also don’t necessarily agree with 3bm22 at 9.3… But hey again, I feel like I’m alone on a lot of these balancing issues. Also didn’t the FV4030 have a better hull armor than the Chally 1 in game?
Nope, the 4030 can be UFP penned by even M735, one of the weakest APFSDS rounds at the tier.
The Challenger 1 can tank that to the Composite.
The LFP is always a weakspot however.
If you really think that thing is better than the TTD then you really need to go take your pills.
The TTD makes the 4030 looks like a garbage pile.
