Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

lot depends on the angle of the incoming munition, and a couple more mechanics nuances and bugs. For example, it doesn’t trigger if the munition lands in certain areas of the engine

Multiple intercepts of the KH-38, up to the capture of the point.

I’ve been closely monitoring the performance of APS on BN since its release.
No new anomalies have appeared yet.

If we had more big maps in rotation, BN would be more than worthy of 12.0. However, its effectiveness varies greatly depending on the type of battlefield.

Depends on range the missile was released and what speed it’s travelling if its over the 1600ms-1 threshold it will not be intercepted.

Just have to remember CR2 BN is just a CR2 with an APS system
and the 2E is just a CR2 with a better engine.

If the APS is invalidated then the BN is not top tier material.

I mean the BN does also get the improved TOGS processor for g3 and the (albeit now almost useless because its 8x locked) gen3 cdr sight

But the better optics (and no APS) imo is just enough justification, maybe for it to be 11.7 instead of 11.3 where the base CR2 should be

Better thermals…Would trade it all for realistic armour, fire power and an ounce of survivability.

It seems autoloaders are eating rounds again and the CR2 just has no lethality.

Britains best tank is essentially like Germany just having a Leopard 2A4 with an APS system

And the TES, why is it 11.7 when all its add is extra weight.

Becauses its ERA is too OP. It can just about protect the tank from a hand grenade, it would be unfair for it to be any lower

Been over pressured by missiles hitting it… just makes me sad :(

*With APS, all-round smoke screen, LWR, and 3rd gen thermals.

Not only that. Let’s say there’s another nuance: APS only intercepts things on the collision course with a unit (The exception in that mechanic is roof-piercing rockets). In other words, if the missile hits the ground with enough splash, it will result in death. Additionally, if the missile set a collision course with a unit at the very last moment, after the point where it should have been intercepted, APS will not be able to intercept it.

Firstly, the Challengers have NOT YET been buffed ingame, this is just a video on the bug report. Don’t get your hopes up too high just yet :)

Zenturion, a pretty well known WT youtuber has made a short video about the report to get the Challengers buffed.

He modified the Challenger to give it the buffed (correct) 1314 horsepower and tested the performance, as you’ll see, the difference is pretty huge compared to the current Challenger 2. It increased acceleration by up to 25%, bringing the Challenger 3TD up to almost Leopard 2 levels of acceleration.

If this actually makes it to the game, it would be a really big buff from his testing.

I’m happy to see he’s made this as it should hopefully bring a lot of attention to the issue, and hopefully gaijin pay attention :)

Please Gaijin…

Be so nice if this was implemented, the leclerc’s vs challenger 2 drag race video might actually be more accurate in game XD

Ive always thought the C2 speeds were incorrect. They always looked/felt slower to what you see IRL.

That’s how Gaijin models the transmission and torque in game. CR2 should have a fast take off and it doesn’t

Gaijin also cant model traction. Wouldnt be surprised if they should be gripping a lot better than they currently. Feels like a slight hill drains all speed

Yes all tanks should have more traction but it is particularly felt by heavier “under powered” tanks

The Challenger spaded Chally 2 ingame is essentially a stock version of how it should be…
