Challenger 2 MBT - Technical data and Discussion (Part 2)

thats the problem with this kind of prototypes, realy no way to know

thats all nice, but chally 130 was made and done in germany

so, tell me, did the challenger 130 ever leave the uk?

it never even arrived in the UK lol thats the thing

so they shipped a cr2 abroad to make a 130

yes

Russia have the Obj 292, admittingly it was made and tested in Russia; but the Chally 130 was made using the name Challenger and used mostly challenger 2 parts. hence the name being challenger; and it was made under the idea that it would be FOR the British. A tank using a British hull, made by a German company tested for use by the British.

to be more specific, the first tests /developments for the chally 3 started in germany.
While rheinmetall finished testing it and planing they had time left over and asked if they can play with the chally 2 for their own projects a bit

u are aware thats a name we gave it right?

No

depends. Full tank yes, subsystems no

ok so did rheinmetall buy the cr2 or was it given by the uk army?

leased /loaned as you will, ownership changed to rheinmetall germany in that case
which goes back to the suggestion rules

why would the uk army lease or loan a tank to rheinmetall?

That is why i hate this topic. The debate never ends.

My opinion remains unchanged from what i said before.

more importantly, in the form of up gunned tanks, do you want the leopard with the 140mm also made by Rheinmetall or do you want the challenger with the 130mm, or do you want both? because you can only have one or the other.

the source i gave literaly stated as well it was done for germany,

And about the name, the more official designation for it is the Rheinmetall 130 mm Demonstratorm thats why this was used for the german suggestion as well

because they want rheinmetall to develop the chally 3 and the ownership went to rheinmetall during that time

that is true, it will go as it goes
like i said i will take it as a win either way either it gets removed or i can say with reasoning to lque UK gets preferential treatment either way

Honestly myself have no problem with both nations getting them

okay, but if Germany get the Leopard 2 140mm then Britain should get the Challenger 130mm. that’s how it should be, and how it should go. If Germany get the 140mm then other nations should get something similar if they have something similar they can get. IE, 130mm Challenger for Britain, 130mm Abrams for America

It was not for germany. If was for Rhein themself. But if you want to go that way ;)
