No no, they are tassels added for looks. On the production design they would come in a variety of different colours such as pink glitter and racing blue.

Add on armour on the UFP, Cheeks look thiccer compared to base Cr2, new mantlet design, keeps the bulge over gun, sides seems to have space for armour
