Centurion mk I in the UK tech tree is fake

There were 2 variants of the Centurion mk I, the A and B.
The A version was the first to enter service, it is the B version that we have in game.

The A variant had the 20mm Polsten
The B variant has the Besa 7.92mm

Does anyone know why the A version is not in the game?

This is cool and all.

but can you back it up with a source

It is a real tank. the polsten was dropped after the centurion Ps in operation Sentry as it was shown to not be very good.

please refer to a centurion marks guide before claiming a real tank is fake

It was the A with the 20mm that first saw service, it was dropped completely at the same time as the 20 pdr came in as it was seen as overkill

“Soon after the Centurion’s introduction, Royal Ordnance finished work on the 84 mm calibre Ordnance QF 20 pounder tank gun. By this point, the usefulness of the 20 mm Polsten had been called into question, it being unnecessarily large for use against troops, so it was replaced with a Besa machine gun in a completely cast turret.”

Will have to do for now Centurion Main Battle Tank (1945-1991) (British Army) - UK Defence Forum

The only Polstens armed Centurion was one of the Prototypes that had a thinner UFP.

Nope, it was the first to see service, not just a prototype, it was the version that went to France.

It is not “fake”, it existed and was built.

Just because the A 20mm variant isnt ingame, does not mean the B variant is “fake”. It being first in service doesnt interrupt things from my knowledge. Both were built. The Polsten variant is suggested, so you can support it if you want.

And next time, please post in the correct area, that being Machinery of War. Thanks
