[CDK] Fatal Error: failed to load texStreamingFile=settings.blk after Heavy Cavalry update

Hi, First time posting on the forums so excuse me for any mistakes.

Since the Heavy Cavalry update released 1-2 days ago, I have not been able to open the WTMissionEditor, WTAssetViewer and LocationEd files.
Each attempt has thrown me the Error:

“failed to load texStreamingFile=settings.blk”

Exception details: 80000003 at 7FF79E525C2C: breakpoint
Exception record: .exr 0000008D231DACB0 (for full dump)

For troubleshooting, i’ve so far tried:

  • Reinstalled CDK twice
  • Ran WTMissionEditor, WTAssetViewer, LocationEd as administrator
  • Verified game file integrity through Steam
  • Redownloaded the CDK installer fresh
  • Disabled anti virus

None of these have fixed the issue, Given that the Heavy Cavalry update changed compression format for textures, and that the CDK has previously worked, I believe the CDK has not been updated to match the new texture compression changes in this update.

however I could be wrong as I am not fully familiar with the Dagor Engine, I’d greatly appreciate any advice.

If no one here on the forum has the answer already then you can bug report it here: Gaijin.net // Issues (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about)

A guide on how to report bugs can be found here: ([Navigation] Technical Knowledge Base | War Thunder Wiki)

It is already solved there:

I now just have a light grey screen and still no cdk

Nothing is working. Skipping the error doesn’t help; the CDK either fails to respond or launches without any tank models. What should I do—or do I just have to wait for an cdk update?

won’t happen. The last 3 Updates were 25th of may 2026, 21. of may 2026 and 27. of November 2024

I have the same problem.

Great now we’ll need to wait another 2 years until they update the cdk

Guys we’ve fixed this error like months ago. Just follow the directions of the first comment. Once you simply replace the config.blk file with the new one most of the problems are fixed. Minus some object group assets crashing when shown.
