I’m tempted to go do some CAS in GSB for footage, but -
Properly flown, a prop tier dive bomber is quite capable of evading gun SPAA.
Proper flight being (from sim/il-2 perspective)
~approach at 2km
Line up target at the inner third of your wing
Tighten turn keeping target in this position until on top of enemy and ease into a dive ~70 degree (steeper if your bomb release permits it)
Line up target with bottom of your gunsight/on top of your nose depending on aircraft
Release bomb at ~600-900 meter altitude when at release speed, level out into an unloaded extension to maintain speed until out of “AAA cone”
Climb back to 2km.
Doing this approach in the Iwo Jima re-enactment Krabb ran doing CAS in my f6f-5, I only died once we went into “night battles” and I flew at 500 meters due to lack of visibility.
Hardest part is not teamkilling your friendlies/identifying targets.
So you perform even better then, which only says you are not the right person to measure anything, because you are clearly way more succesful than average joe.
Does that say you shouldn’t talk about something ? I said you are not the standard to measure performance of whatever vehicle, because you are way better then the timmies.
you dont want tank-only because its “bad for the game”.
which means you want air RB removed as well presumably, since its a plane-only gamemode instead of mixed.
pretty big part actually. and anyway what do you care? keep playing mixed battles and forget about whos playing tank-only.
If you are right and it is a big part (which we don’t know unless there is a global poll, which wont happen anyway) then i care because it will massively increase waiting times.
If anything, vehicle performance measurements should be weighted towards players who have proven a baseline competency in using that vehicle.
MOBAs mostly balance based off of competetive outcomes, not random bronze pugs. This does lead to the occasional smurf pubstomper becoming very stupid (very high skill floor, very high impact like Meepo).
seeing 5 enemy planes in the sky happens every single game. are you doubting that it ever happens or what
valid argument. too bad it has nothing to do with war thunder
so you agree that a gigantic part of the playerbase does not give a fuck about CAS in groud battles? yea why not keep argumenting against tank-only, fuck the players after all
Maybe it should, but they are not balancing vehicles off the stats off the very small percentage of very good players.
Never played those games.
But War Thunder lives from the mass they need to apease and brings the money. It was the same in World of Warships.
The few percent of unicums don’t bring the money.
you wrote that first thing as if youre doubting that every lower tier game has 5 enemy planes in the sky, but its easy to verify that its true
in the second comment you were just agreeing that you dont care about other players if your own queue time and free CAS kills are affected, which is a pretty bad reason to be against tank-only
Gaijin has previously described interest in TO as a “niche” in official statements (@Smin1080p_WT was the source years ago)
What interest is expressed about TO on the forums often does come from the same few people over and over again, often for years on end|
On the old forum, it was at best a few hundred individuals users over the course of about 6 years that turned out to express support)
In spite of their stated interest, TO supporters have currently fallen idle and so TO has languished: there does not really appear to be any active efforts at realizing the idea, particularly as the trigger-queue concept sits idle and ignored
The “RB GFs will die off!” boast is a talking point from TO advocates…not so-called CAS abusers or whatever…not sure how you say other people are saying it when it’s clearly a TO crowd line
As TO doesn’t even exist yet, that line is empty and unproven bluster–a strange flex when TO doesn’t appear even close to fruition
You’re literally attributing TO supporters lines to other people…so, yeah. I don’t think there’s really more to be said on that.
Population issues have dogged the TO concept–which is why the trigger queue concept is such an appealing way to try realizing the idea. Alas, no one has even bothered to make a serious try at lobbying Gaijin to implement TO in that manner and so it sits languishing.
I have given TO a fair amount of help explaining the suggestions process of the forum and some avenues to pitch TO based upon, including suggesting ‘rallies’ in Custom Battles to practically demonstrate interest in TO and helped popularize the trigger-queue concept too…but so far, I’ve never heard of any TO supporters actually bothering with a serious formal suggestion, a Custom Battles rally to show Gaijin the interest involved (and do a very basic, informal test) nor angle at offering the trigger-queue “compromise” idea.
TO has just sat for years instead…and now I don’t think it’ll ever get off the ground after 8.5 years. It’s unfortunate, as TO would be a fascinating change of pace with its own meta.
To use some common phases: “irony is dead” and “every accusation is a confession.”
It took a long time for me to convince you about those esoteric and short-lived despawn points in RB GFs (recently reused in the WWI event weeks ago), but we got there…so all is not lost.
Yes, let’s have a sit-in in a custom server. What purpose does that serve? I’m sorry, but driving around in circles while chanting “We Want Tanks Only” in a Discord call might be appealing to you, Gaijin doesn’t care. Oh no, a custom server not doing a bloody thing!
