those bombs are so big you need to make sure there is no ally nearby, and you at least need to find a high concentration of enemies.
plus you are less accurate with the bomb if you fly high but more vulnerable if you fly low. Both are also slow so they have a chance to be intercepted before damage is done.
AASMs or KH38s are guided, so you don’t even need to think about it.
Then again i never played those bombers, so take it with a grain of salt
I will concede hellfires may be one of the few CAS weapon that is somewhat balanced, because it gives a laser warning, isn’t very long ranged, a bit slow and sensitive to smoke. Hellfires are a very small part of what constitutes CAS globally however
This is the whole problem with CAS isn’t it… It costs 5 times the price of a tank. We wouldn’t even have this conversation if it was the same amount as a tank, but with actual counters.
If they implement a TO mode, they should rework the existing Ground RB mode, and make it fully mixed (ships, planes and tanks). And then you play whatever vehicle you want, but you will be sure to meet your counter
Playing CAS ? => you may encounter long range SAMs, or even modern destroyers (they basically act the same way)
Playing tank ? => tanks are you main counter, and CAS could pose a threat, but not disproportionate like today
Playing SPAA ? => Anti radiation missile could be a problem, and if your location is pin-pointed and you don’t move sometimes, you could eat a salvo of cruise missiles from a ship or a plane
Playing Ship ? => Plane could pose a small threat, but submarines would be an even bigger problem
Playing Submarine ? => Helis and frigates would be your worst nightmare, as well as other submarines
A precise work would be needed to give objectives to each category of vehicle as well, so that it makes the battle more dynamic, like in current Heli PVE or even Naval EC. Ground units for example are less powerful than other units, but without their presence, an objective or a territory would not be occupied, so giving them the upperhand on the fate of the battle could be an idea
That way you would have
Tank only mode
Air only mode (currently exists)
Naval only mode (you could remove aircraft from naval, since they are useless most of the time anyway)
All of the above would be better suited for a quick game
A complete mixed mode, better suited for longer games, and a bit more immersion
It’s all about that rock paper scissor dynamic, but Ground RB particularly isn’t concerned by this because of the spawn point thing, which makes CAS having an advantage look “normal”
a fully mixed gamemode would have to be some sort of event, not an actual gamemode.
they are incapable of making current ground playable, no chance they can add all these new features.
just have the current ground gamemode, and then the actual ground gamemode. very simple solution that works for everyone
It’s not ragequit. There is just no reason to respawn as Spawns will be targeted first. I’m not even against kh 38, but I am against carrying six one shot fire and forgets…maybe one or two since they are so powerful. . I am also against going straight from a fighter with them to a strike aircraft with them back to back.
Sometimes the team’s jets takes cas away, and there is a chance to continue playing.
Not all fire and forget are the same as kh38mt. Kh38mt and agm65 are as different as day and night. But doing 6 frags in less than ten seconds is way overpowered.
Why not? It depends on how much time you spent with this or that plane. If it’s like now with Russian planes. You took the su34, spammed out the kh38mt, J-out, took the su30sm, and did the same thing again. Result = 12+ kills. This thing is really nonsense.
That’s another story. Tanks are not equal either. And in TANK ONLY mode, some tanks will be better than others.
