Carry Over Camouflage Progress When New Unlockable Camos Are Added

Hello everyone,

I am probably in the minority when it comes to unlocking camouflage skins in this game. Since most players don’t bother grinding every camouflage, this issue likely affects only a small portion of the player base, but I think it’s still worth addressing.

From time to time, Gaijin adds new camos for different nations (for example, the Arctic camo for Russia or the late tricolor spotted camo for China). Since I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years, I have unlocked most of the available ones.

The problem is that whenever a new camo is added, players have to start from scratch to unlock it, even if they have already unlocked all of the previous ones for that vehicle.

My suggestion is that progress toward newly added camouflage skins should automatically take previous progression into account. This could be implemented in several ways, for example:

Method 1

Set the starting progress of the new camo to the kill requirement of the last unlocked camo.

Example:

  • The last unlocked camo required 450 destroyed enemy vehicles .
  • A newly added camo requires 650 destroyed enemy vehicles .
  • The player would automatically start with 450/650 progress.

Method 2

Use the total number of enemy vehicles destroyed with that specific vehicle (since these statistics are already tracked).

Example:

  • A vehicle has 50 ground or air targets destroyed .
  • Progress toward the new camo would be calculated using the existing progression formula (number of kills × progression value per kill).

As far as I know, naval damage is not recorded in the statistics, so naval players would not benefit from this proposal in its current form.

This change would respect the time veteran players have already invested while still requiring additional progress to unlock newly added camouflages. It would also encourage players to continue collecting new camouflage skins without feeling that their previous achievements have effectively been ignored.
