The idea of a whole pack of players heading towards a cap zone is prevalent in all tiers. I just played 4-5 and all the games were much the same.
Most players center around a cap with one or two flanking. Most of the big kill scores center on Zones if you watch replays often. That includes heading towards it or away from it.
You can win by doing pretty much nothing but sitting on caps. Camping at a point practically guarantees that enemies come straight to you to be killed, you also get infinite secondary ammo so you can fight multiple enemies much more effectively than normal
I’m sure you’ve already experienced this.
A lemming train that stops because of a light tank in the cap and switches to camping mode.
Or they wait the whole match until the tickets are down to 1000 and then become active while the opposing team still has 12,000 on the clock.
Or 4 tanks shitting their pants and all standing on one corner while an SPAA is on the other side.
That is true, but that’s because there is no direct incentive to sacrifice yourself in a push, so no one does it.
Sometimes I think about doing it, but the lack and the difficulty to communicate in that game makes me always question a push around a corner.
So true! I often sit in front of the monitor and shout at him, hoping it gets through to the other player ^^
It’s often easier to flank opponents. A push around a corner usually requires a sacrifice.
And nothing is more annoying than when you have sacrificed yourself and the other player behind you is just checking whether his tracks have started to rust.
Agreed. That goes under the category of “some tactical sense” which many players lack or do not care about.
Also, players tend to spam help commands yet very few actually mark where the enemy is so one who comes to help doesn’t get ambushed and then the enemy gets 2 kills.
It happened to me numerous times in air RB when a friendly plane asked for help as there were 2 planes on him. I jump in to help him and then he bugs out leaving me to fight two planes.
That is a lack of leadership. Sometimes calling on vehicles to capture a zone you know is clear is useful. If you are in CAS and know the zone is clear then shout up, some people will actually move.I think they just dont know what to do for the best sometimes.
I know this is only a video game but I do believe players get scared on GRB. Maybe they are down on SP and want to get a kill before dying. Certainly, the way the game plays can produce an element of Cowardice, or you could call it just being careful in difficult circumstances.
Maybe if the points system was jettisoned and we could all run what ever we had it might take the tension out of the game.
People talk about ODL but it is easy to be gone after two if you are gung ho with it all.
Saying that I do wonder if some players are too cautious, and the lemming train guys who just steam in don’t have it right sometimes.
Maybe we all overthink it.
If you watch Oddbawlz he does center around cap even if he is some way off or even ahead of it intercepting or way behind it picking off the incoming

Yes, that’s right. I use the map a lot to ping enemies, even after I’m dead. I use the shortcuts as often as I can to point out anything.
Whether the others react in any way is another matter. That’s where my responsibility ends.

The stupid thing is that they ride themselves into the shit without realising it. You can see it yourself well in advance. But that’s part of the learning process. And even I often make mistakes that I’m still annoyed about a week later.

Perhaps a compromise here would be that you could perhaps specify a vehicle in your lineup before the battle with which you could at least get a free backup.

“Maybe we all overthink it.” < I think that’s the most obvious one.
Many of us have a great interest in the battles being a bit more “balanced” and not being decided after 3 minutes because one team has once again managed to die once in the same time. We want to understand the situation, but in the end we can only speculate.
I do think time pushes players on, it’s just a scoring stampede really, not a long tactical game. If you look at the games where there is only two zones and we have to take both the amies are longer, slower and more tactical. I prefer those to be honest.
I always thought the detail Gaijin put into the vehicles far outweighs the cleverness of the maps and the game itself.
