Caproni Ca.133.

History.

The Caproni Ca.133 was a three-engined, high-wing monoplane transport aircraft developed by Caproni in 1934. It was affectionately nicknamed by its crews as the “Caprona”, and although its characteristics and low top speed made it vulnerable to modern warfare, was used with good results in the theater of Italian East Africa and in the footsteps of hunting units in the Soviet Union and the Balkans. The first prototype of this aircraft was registered under the serial number MM.283 and flew for the first time in 1934 to Taliedo. The aircraft was immediately approved and production began, albeit with minor modifications, and the aircraft was used until the end of the war in 1945.

Armaments and propulsion.

The plane was armed with four 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, one dorsal, one ventral, and two lateral and could load up to 1.200 kg of bombs. Propulsion was entrusted to three 7 cylinder Piaggio P.VII C.16 radial engines placed on a single star air-cooled, enclosed in a NACA cowling, each capable of delivering a power equal to 460 HP which drove double-bladed variable-pitch propellers to the ground.
