History.
In the mid-1930s, Caproni began working on a new aircraft in response to the Regia Aeronautica’s request for a new reconnaissance aircraft. After some time, Caproni came out with a plane called Caproni Ca.127, which made its first flight in 1935, but proved to be a failure. Its very archaic design was not able to satisfy the needs of the Regia Aeronautica, so the aircraft was rejected and no further examples were requested.
Armaments and propulsion.
The plane was defended by 5 Breda-SAFAT 7.7 mm machine guns placed in various positions. One was in the belly of the plane, two on the sides, one in front synchronized with the propeller and two in a turret located above the plane. Given the end of the project, Caproni did not have time to apply the armament on the prototype of the plane. In terms of engine, the aircraft was powered by an Isotta Fraschini 12R mounted in the nose of the aircraft. The engine in question could deliver up to 750 HP of power, which could allow the aircraft to reach a maximum speed of 305 km/h and a ceiling of 8000 m.
