Description: The Caproni Ca301 was a small, Italian single-engine ground attacker. It was designed in the thirties to meet the requirements emitted by a competition for a new strike aircraft started by the Regia Aeronautica in the early thirties. The aircraft was designed by the Italian engineer Cesare Pallavicino, who had recently joined the Caproni industry. The first prototype was ready to take off on April 27, 1934, and the second was ready on May 18 of the same year. The Regia Aereonautica was satisfied with the performances achieved by the aircraft, and in 1936 they placed an initial order of 12 units from the first series. In the following years, another order for 27 additional units was signed. This unit was from the second series, which included mainly some improvements over the first one. The structure of the gears was reduced to reduce the aerodynamic attrition caused by them, and the engine was replaced with a more powerful Alfa Romeo 125 R.C.V. When the Spanish War broke out in 1936, the Regia Aereonautica had a total of 62 units that were deployed against the Spanish republican forces. But the aircraft was not able to perform very well against the enemy Soviet aircraft employed by the Republicans, so it was quickly replaced. By the end of 1939, the aircraft was completely replaced by the Ba88 Lince.
Why it should be in game: It could be a good attacker for the Italian low tier ground lineup.
