I agree that is annoying.
People cover that too
It’s not reasonable to expect a player, especially a non-experienced one, to have to ID a tank based on whether it has this one MG or not. Just an example.
Idk what vehicles you have been playing but most of the ones I can remember don’t have super distinct camo that can’t be either painted over or changed to something more similar to the original nation.
I would love to see the results of the allies taking to Operation Desert storm in Russian tanks. They had friendly fire issues as it was.
If you go into Sim with as Germany with a Sherman or KV1 you are asking for it and will probably get it. Much of the time all you are a black silhouette.
I understand that team killing can get you banned from WT so playing SIM is simply a risk I am not prepared to take.
If I am playing Germany in WW2and I see a Sherman in the distance I would be taking the shot. I would not find it any fun to shouted at by my team or face a ban for team killing if that is the case.
I think the solution to “spy” or captured allied tanks is to implement radio operators and radios in the game that can relay your location on the map temporarily. Currently, the radio operator crew and radios are not in used in any way even though they are in almost all tanks (even newer ones like the Vilkas has a radio modeled in the X-Ray view)
For higher tiers, I believe battle management systems should allow friendlies to reveal their location via GPS, something that I think SB deserves. Obviously the location of allies should not update in real time to keep it hardcore but I think it would make SB more appealing across all tiers.
SIM seems to be an afterthought and maybe is more about what Gaijin was rather than the future can see them pulling the plug soon.
Changing what vehicles are allowed seems a bit odd of a solution. I agree that team kills because of similar looking vehicles on either side is a problem.
A better solution could be to add vehicle markers just as in real life.
When game starts the teams vote for a symbol to be theirs and when the game starts those symbols gets added as a decal to the tanks sides, front, back and roof.
Then the match would be “X” Vs “O” or like “∆” Vs “#” and so on (The symbols should be voted on in pairs as to not make matches like “O” Vs “Q” happen as that would defeat the point).
If it’s not obvious by looking at them. Hit the range finder, it will tell you if it’s an enemy
If someone covers whole tank in bushes, it doesn’t matter if it’s a captured vehicle or not, because you would not be able to recognise it anyway from distance.
As stated before by me, sim battles are for more experienced players. It’s like any other game - easy difficulty for starters, medium for ones that already got a grip of the game and hard, in this case Simulator, for those who are already experienced. If one jumps straight to hard difficulty, they can blame only themselves for not performing the expected way.
That’s true, for example Chinese plain desert camo is similar to other nations plain desert camo, which makes it more difficult to distinguish on certain maps.
Come on… KV-1 756(r) has distinctive commander cupola and long cannon barrel, which is not found on russian KVs + it’s distinctive yellowish camo, which russia has no equivalent. I don’t know about german sherman.
If the tanks are black silhouette for you, I suppose you see them from distance, where they can be checked with binocs if friendly or not (or if they are firing at you, just fire back).
That already exists and functions well… if you T-4-1 (Follow me) or T-4-2 (Cover me) it shows a marker with your current location on the minimap, also in simulator battles.
I have not tried getting my radio operator killed yet and then communicating, BUT their stats are used for sure. If your friendlies go beyond range of your radio operator, you will not be able to see markers on minimap I believe.
I agree to that fully! Modern battlefield is networkcentric where all branches communicate with each other one or the other way. This could be applied to top tier ground simulation battles as well as top tier air simulation battles with help of AWACS or equivalent to make it more realistic.
