Really nice bundle for air too
I would normally say “+1” for this idea, having an independant Canadian tree in War Thunder.
However (and with irony), I wonder what would happen if Trump succeeds in absorbing Canada into the US nation as he announced. Ha!!!
Of course this won’t happen. So ok let’s go for it!! A Canadian tech tree in War Thunder!
Update #3
Sabre Mk 4 is now a premium (it and the Mk 2 are nearly identical)
Sabre Mk 4 BR 8.7 - 8.3
Added links to:
CF-100 Mk 5M
All Sabre variants.
+1 as either an independent with Australia and New Zealand or as a UK subtree, quite a nice batch of vehicles that hopefully don’t get breadcrumbed across trees
I’m from the future, he didn’t succeed ♥️
I personally think a full tree/subtree is far too much copy-paste.
Canadian planes would be best used to supplement the UK tree.
The armament of the CF-100 Mk.5, CF-101, and CF-104 are potentially inadequate to justify addition to WT without some ahistorical tweaks. For example, FFAR-only gameplay is limited now, especially with the low # of rockets the CF-100 would carry. If the cannon-armed variants, or the missile-equipped Mk.5M or Mk.6 version were included, that would make sense. IIRC, the CF-104 never carried missiles and may not have had a gun?
I think CF-100 Mk.4/B, CF-5A, and CF-118 (late, with AESA) could provide useful variety to the UK tree. The other Canadian planes would probably be best represented by historical/semi-historical skins for other planes (e.g., USAF F-101C, UK Spitfires, etc.)
Just add it as a British sub tree and get it over with. 80% of this is British vehicles with the rest being vehicles America has already. CF-116 would be good in the UK tree as the light fighter along with the BAE Hawk 200.
If you read the suggestion, you would have seen that the tree was done in a blanket style, ex. it shows off everything Canada could get both unquie & C&P.
In addition, most of it is “licensed built,” so Canada built it themselves(making them unique variants) rather than just buying it.
That hasn’t stopped others like them from coming to War Thunder already.
The CF-100Mk 5 would join the other rocket-only jets, like the F-89D.
The CF-101 would join other “missile onlys” from the Sea Vixen F.A.W. Mk.2 that just dosn’t have any guns to the F-104S ASA that loses its gun if you take missiles.
The CF-104 didn’t have missiles, in RCAF service, but others who used it did and as far as I could find, no modification needed, hence the split, a semi-historical one with this possible as a “late” and a more historic one.
As for a gun:
Here are two photos showing it with a gun.
Did you look at the tree? I have all armed variants 3A/B, 4A/B and 5(& M) in the tree; and the Mk 6 is paper.
Kinda hard, when they already have two sub-tree with less than 1% of their aircraft, and no room for domestically operated UK stuff.
The Canadian tech has to fight 3 other nations for a spot, it’s more than likely nothing would come instead, due to the 5 line limt, mixed with the only 3 vehclies in a line per rank( at most 9, with 3 in a folder, more more like 6, and then unlees your making nonsense folders, it wouldn’t work)
And the reason why this suggestion exists is because we want treatment like that to stop, having our tech ripped across nations unable to be used in a line-up together. What you said is the worst case for Canadian vehicles, not the best, unless you have something against Canada.
On other news, this tree is missing Canadian-built Lancasters(yes, there’s more).
The ASW/naval patrol should be split into 3, from what I learned.
being, MR, MP, and MP(late). With each one having a different turret/radar layout(likely ordnance as well), at least one has a RWR from what I’ve been told(the MP(Late) iirc).
