Yeah I just woke up to a ping on Discord about this. Hopium is strong.
So like… they’re still pretty garbage.
I figured it wouldn’t do much good since the fragmentation pattern is now mostly off to the sides rather than all around, so if the missile detonates in the wrong orientation most of the fragments are gonna miss.
Yeah, it’s weird cuz not much seems to have changed at all. It really doesn’t feel much better or worse. Maybe slightly better? But I can’t tell.
I just had one of the best sessions of the past 3 months grinding out the 7th mark in 1h30min, and holy shit every aa nord that connected with its target detonated and killed.
No idea if I’m just lucky or not but it feels great.
So I’ve noticed they’re really good if the target isn’t going insanely fast. So the damage seems to be fixed but the fuse issue does not. That’s how I feel about it at least. I have several clips of non hits registering against fast targets. But anyone going like 800 or less just gets nuked.
Alright so after playing over the last two days to get a larger sample size. I think it’s fair to say nords are significantly improved in terms of fragmentation damage. However, I don’t think it’s fair to say they’re completely fixed either. Something is still messed up with them.
Here are a few examples:
On the final one, you can see that only 1 of 3 actually killed the target, my assumption is that it being a sea hawk, it wasn’t going particularly fast. Supporting the idea that something is up with fast targets just not taking damage for whatever reason, be it some form of fuse delay like what was introduced in alpha strike (and likely still persists) or whether the fragmention just doesn’t travel fast enough to hit them? I’m unsure and this is what I think Gaijin should look into.
In case anyone was thinking that maybe the shots were just too far, well, I don’t think this is an issue.

Why would the engineers of this missile make the proxy range too large for the warhead? I like to believe engineers are fairly smart.
-
Well, with the recent frag change, if the target is slow, you can miss by a mile and it will more than likely obliterate them.
Here are a few examples of that:
I don’t have too many clips of missing by a landslide, as I normally don’t clip them since they’re pretty ugly, but here’s a few that I have laying around.
Right now they feel excellent to use in dogfights, as usually the target isn’t going insanely fast so they’ll do damage, but their gimmick of being head on monsters, just isn’t really reliable at all.
Overall, while they are improved, the change wasn’t focused around AA.20s and was an indirect improvement. While good, I do not believe the issue is resolved and will continue to update this post as it continues.
I say that and then my first game immediately after. So yeah, fix yo shizz gaijin.
Oh look, I decide to boot up the game today and AA.20s are still doing nothing.
@CokeSpray do you think you could get the devs to take a look at this? Or tell me someone I can contact that might be able to help. I don’t know what else I could do to show that these things just don’t work.
Hey why don’t my missiles do that kinda damage?
No, they are still not fixed.
Fix your damn game.
sorry too busy ruining GRB with BMPT
Saw this thread pop up and took a look out of curiosity, couple of thoughts.
First off, I had no idea what an AA Nord was, I left long before update “Locked On” dropped, out of disappointment at the france air tree (how the tables turn lol) so I missed out on supersonics and AAM’s. Anyway, reading the wikipedia page for the missile was a genuine trip to read. Seriously, a radio guided Anti-Air Missile? What kind of jackass designed th- oh, my country came up with it. Yeah it all makes sense now. I then found out we somehow convinced other countries to use them. “Hey Guiseppe, here’s the new missiles those frenchies dropped off, oh yeah you fly with one hand and use that tiny joystick to steer it visually with your other hand, good luck!” -insert copious amounts of italian pilot swearing- the 50’s were wild.
Second, holy hell OP, hats off to the dedication, I don’t think I’ve seen a one man thread this long back on the old forums. I also want to salute the skill displayed in those clips, that 7km shot on the IL28? whew.
Third, I need to get the vautour asap, it looks stupid and very, very fun to fly.
Fourth, I can’t do much about gaijin fucking up mechanics or vehicles (I remember how awful they treated the MD452 II on release and left it as is despite the constant begging to fix it), so I will simply leave a post here to boost the thread and add my little stone of encouragement to a growing pile.
I thank the french for giving me a manual command air to air missile so I can play with them 70 years later in a funny video game. They’re so much fun and a pretty cool idea initially.
Thanks, I didn’t really intend for it to be this way. I just don’t know any other way to bring awareness to the fact they were, and currently still are, bugged.
I recommend the vautour. It’s a fat battle bus, but if you dump the airbrake and flaps, it can out turn a lot of fighters that get caught off guard that the vautour is actually fighting. With the thrust to keep up if you need to go up, or get away.
And than you for your contribution, I love talking abojt these funny missiles. They’re a lot of fun.
i really want them to introduce the soviet K-5 missiles
basically a fireflash on a mig-19
Don’t worry, if infantry mode is genuinely coming to the game, you’ll make the acquaintance of some very normal and sane firearm designs we cooked up over the decades, glances at scoped Manurhin MR 73 MAGNUM REVOLVER
Googles it
…
What in the Despicable me ass shit is this? I mean seriously? Like look at how well it fits, I’m crying
