With the Great War event your able to get the WW1 vehicles but when not in the event they have less the HP for their engines. So for the players sake and gameplay why not Boost the Engines for RB. Compensation for Realist feel they should be bit more playable like the MK4’s Germany and UK they desperately need it
There are other ways to buff them too. Though I will say the Mark IV/V and the HP12 seem to be the most in need of some kind of help.
EG
Give the 6 pounder guns a little more pen (treat like they are the long guns).
Give the 6 pounder guns HE effect more oompf, right now its very much a case of you could 1 shot someone, or you could do nothing after penning.
Give the HP 12 its full bomb load, it looks like it should carry 16 bombs, not just 8. edit: turns out to be 16 small bombs, or 1 1600lb bomb or 3 520/550ish lb bombs. Gib.
Give the HP 12 rear gunners a much wider field of fire, right now they effectively seem to have tiny windows to fire off the side of the plane and often simply wont fire at enemies that they obviously can see, major issue for defending in the slowest plane in the game i think?
Improve the HP 12s AI gunners to be far more effective maybe? Its big, slow, a meme, make them able to hit well wouldnt be a big ask.
Put reserve tier on the mark IV/V and HP 12 instead of 1.0, less spawn costs. IDK for the car, but the French and German tanks seem to be doing okayish, possible put that on too.
Welcome to first generation tanks fighting things 20 years younger than it.
There’s no balance to them and never will be because they don’t fit into the game and anyone who decides to take them into normal matches should temper their expectations accordingly.
No artificial buff. We need to deal with them as they are. Maybe change some soft stats like reload rate or hitpoints for internal mods. This could be changed. But hard stats like speed, armor, penetration etc should be historical.
All issues with WW1 tanks such as speed, armor, and penetration should not be rectified with buffs. These tanks are not 1.0 material but as we don’t have anywhere lower to put them at the moment, we have to expect that they will be substantially worse than the tanks already present at that BR.
I say no on the basis that the issues seem more to do with maps not being designed with their limitations in mind and facing vehicles ~20 years younger then they are.
And, honestly, considering that they are first generation tanks facing armored vehicles ~20 years their Jr? They are remarkably usable. I used to be on the fence about implementing WW1 vehicles into the game over concerns that they wouldn’t be fun to play, but the event, and some usage in RB/AB has assuaged those fears. Give them their own BR range and design some maps that keep their slow speed in mind, and you have an entirely viable tier for WW1 to early inter-war vehicles.
No. They’re WWI tanks. They behave like WWI tanks.
I don’t understand why people ask for WWI tanks then turn around and complain that they behave like WWI tanks.
It’s because they are trying to enjoy these tanks at 1.0, which is not at all where they belong and a poorly implemented decision on Gaijin’s end. Some complaint is valid, but people have to understand that giving ahistorical buffs for a vehicle completely invalidates the BR system Gaijin created specifically to balance vehicles by their real life capabilities (or so they insist).
I’m sure with a new set of BRs, even just from 0.0-0.7, and a handful of new maps for those BRs, the new WW1 vehicles will feel right at home with their future contemporaries.
They are really 0.5 BR vehicles so… no. There is no reason to make these gag vehicles competitive with the regular tech tree.
There is a very good reason why the game devs decided to start the game trees at the late interwar/early WWII time frame. WWI tanks were primitive, slow, and unfun from a game perspective.
Except that will never happen, Gaijin is too lazy to implement neww BRs, just look at the compression issue plaguing the game for years now when a really simple answer is just to extend the BR limit.
They clearly need a speed buff. Right now the game is over and you didn’t even manage to reach a single cap or got bombed 30 meters away from your spawn.
The “they must be WW1 cuz they are” is invalid as long as they don’t have a separate mode to play in.
You can’t really argue that Gaijin “is too lazy to implement new BRs” when they add a new one for air pretty much every update. It would not be impossible for Gaijin to simply shift every BR up by 2.0-3.0 and add some new ranks at the bottom for WW1 and interwar vehicles. Alternatively they could just add the 0.0-0.7 BR spread I mentioned, although it would have to be divided from 1.0 to avoid uptiers.
Do I think it’s likely? Not really no, but it’s also not that difficult and allows Gaijin to make WW1 functional before actually fixing the compression issues you mentioned. And giving speed buffs to each tank nullifies the significance of such speed, which should be incorporated into new “tiny” WW1 focused maps rather than removed entirely.
Yeah, they implement for air but that’s it. For how long have the BRs been horribly compressed ? And how did they change that ? simply move up some cold war tech instead of moving the limit to 13.0 …
Yes, they COULD, but they never do.
And for the rest, you just basically agree with me, I’m all for WW1 BR and maps. But this will probably never happen as no one plays the small BRs, so in the meantime we need to boost the tech we have
Well, I think that decompression is something that most people agree on, but as I mentioned in my last comment, simply adding 0.0-0.7 or expanding the trees by a few BR levels and shifting everything up are easy-to-implement solutions that don’t require this full tree decompression.
I don’t, however, agree on artificially buffing these tanks in the meantime though. While they are a pain to play, they also research modifications incredibly fast, so it doesn’t take long before a player can move on to something better.
