This style of menu in general is such a hindrance to reading objectives especially for game modes such as SIM.
Its impossible to read mission objectives and the plane options take TOO much space. Its not a big change or request but I doubt I’m the only one who finds this limiting.
Expand Horizontally or relegate some of the menu options out of the Map menu and into the options.
Maybe you turned your UI scale too high or something, because I’ve never seen such issues from my side.
whats ur monitor size m8?
its a TV, 43" which makes it stranger to be so squished
If i make it any smaller it gets too small to read unfortunately. The UI scaling being preset instead of customizable is a sore
I fully agree. This window should just be map, objectives and chat.
It’s completely unneccessary to show stuff that I can’t even change while in game - especially when they block the actually relevant elemetns like objectives and chat - like list of vehicles, that whole block top left with secondary weapons and stuff, this stuff should be just in briefing screen, now while you’re actually in the game / in the vehicle.
A good map window would only have those elements:
Thank you for providing an example! You’re so spot on with what it should look like, thanks for adding :)
Hah, I haven’t even started yet. Planning to do a whole essay/collection of suggestions for various similar items, haha!
What I’d love most is a system like in EvE Online, where each and every UI element could be activated/deactivated, sized, configured, etc. individually.
We all have very different setups, so how information is displayed is really something that should not be hard coded. If I play on a small laptop monitor I have completely different requirements for displaying info than on a large TV screen, and if I use VR goggles the requirements change drastically yet again.
I have great hopes that there will be more UI improvements to come, seeing we just recently got added how e.g. radar should be displayed at game start (active/inactive, mode), we got new functionalities for map (SPI marking, panning), but there’s still a lot of room for improvement…
Gaijin is fairly receptive of UI changes compared to other suggestions so fingers crossed they take your suggestions to heart!
I’d love to see a more customisable UI… to the extreme where nearly anything could be included. Especially on the research tree screen. So against each vehicle icon can be information for such things like number of aced crews in vehicle, current mod research, nearest camo completion / mark of distinction, etc, even things like what is shown in the service record could be shown against the vehicle.
(This would all be extra, with a default UI always available that doesn’t have too much clutter)
They could even be exported as templates so there could be a range of ready-made customised UIs that are User generated (i.e. less work for Gaijin devs but more importantly more user-driven content and engagement ) and available on Live or whatever (a bit like custom Tank sights).
Oh, another example would of course be WoW, where UI could be heavily modified using third party plugins.
Of course anything third party is potentially tricky, the idea of freely configurable UI certainly has appeal. I Fly Sim EC almost exclusively, and don’t want action bar, ticket bar always visible because of immersion, and the RWR/radar displays I want to have visible where and when I need them, not somewhere off to the side, etc…
