As far as I am aware, AAM-3 and Aim-9M seekers dont differ.
But Aim-9M does seem to be pretty much universally broken at the moment and I have no idea if AAM-3 is experiencing the same issues. So it might be less that AAM-3 is overperforming and that Aim-9M is massively underperforming
Nothing changed with the AAM-3 guidance nor IRCCM for quite a long time.
Like, its Gaijin were talking about. Its entirely possible something broke with the game.
But.
Id remain skeptical.
Youre the sole person on this forum currently making post about AAM-3 (by extension the JA37Di youre flying).
Its highly unlikely that AAM-3/JA37Di or even BOL by extension would get geniunely broken and you would be the single person being affected or making post about it.
absolutely right. The christmas premium f2 spam is not helpng.
Well… BOL is broken :P
But thats nothing new
Its nerfed to hell and back, sure. I was more thinking of gaijin “accidentally” straight up deleting BOL heat signature for the fun of it.
Ah right yeah.
All i can do is speak on my experience over the past 2 days. Two things are clear to me. I cant flare off AAM3’s. I can flare off every other IR missile as they’ve been fired and haven’t landed.
If that’s due to an extension of something else being broken that’s fine but then why would the AAM-3 stand out? Wouldn’t that mean all IR should hit at an increased rate? Further more if it were my aircrafts heat signature and the aim9/AAM-3 are identical wouldn’t they have an identical kill ratio too? I just want to understand wtf is going on as I’m dying almost solely to a single missile and nothing i do fixes the issue. That’s a problem to me.
Flare them like you do 9Ms, and you’ll see similar success rates.
Until next gen IRs are added, expect AAM-3 to not change.
I mean sure, its weird; but ive been grinding the same air event within the same air battles with Su-30MKK and I havent really noticed anything out of ordinary in relation to missile guidance (beside the weird damage thing going on but thats not guidance but gaijin fiddling with explosives and explosives logic in general, tank HE included).
aam3 has slightly better irccm than the 9m:
aam3:

9m:

That wouldn’t explain the AAM-3’s outperforming every decoy attempt I’ve made. preflaring, spam flare while preflaring, staying off afterburner, changing aspects while spamming flares. Its doing nothing. As stated I’ve been hit head on a number of times out of afterburner spamming flares. That should be nearly impossible and happen rarely under these circumstances no?
idk, just my 2 cents, i feel somethings going on. whether its directly related to the missile, or something else that’s affecting their performance. its just past the point of coincidence personally.
ngl i have no clue what im looking at and what it means but thank you for this!
basically means aam3 reacts to flares faster (shuts off its seekerhead sooner and turns it back on quicker than 9m when it detects a flare)
How fast IRCCM kicks in when it detects flare.

safe to say, if person is able to tell difference between these two, he shouldnt be playing warthunder but probably fighting crime in red spandex suit with yellow lighting bolt on his chest.
I mean im probably going to sound like an ass, but theres only one other constant across all these games where you got shot down by AAM-3, and its located between chair and keyboard :P
Dont know what to tell you. Have you tried looking at the replay with sensor overlay?
Is it possible for you to send some replays or videos? Might be able to help visually see whats going on, Especially with the tactical view replays
I understand what you mean. Replay hasn’t given me any further clues. Of course, some matches ive dies to AAM-3 shot that are 100% explainable and understandable. The problem I’m having is with the rest that to me, are something i haven’t experienced in this game. like these aren’t aim9x’s but that’s what i feel like I’m going up against. i can jink bullets, i can notch fox3’s, i can flare IR missiles but the glaring exception is the AAM-3 with no clear reason why
never done that before is it easy to do?
Link replay then, let us see what might be the problem.
Youd be surprised how often that helps, just few days ago one dude kept missing his R-27ER shots…because he forgot theyre SARHs, not ARHs.
