Frustrating… I have this vehicle with 4 backups I won’t use in a month and yet can’t spend them because there’s still a daily backup in the way and I must use it instead of the vehicle backup?? Gaijin support claims it’s not a bug, well then, please oh please change this, because it’s getting very old very fast.

It was more annoying when it came out when after you used up the 5 free daily backups the interface would default to the now used up free backups and you had to manually click over to the universal backups.
The way it is working now is fine, I have no complaints or suggestions. They are free and your other backups will still be there indefinitely until you use them. There is zero need to bypass the free backups, just use them if you still have any for the day.
I have premiums that I have not used yet with backups on them, some have been there for multiple years. They never go away. I don’t see the issue.
Why do I get a choice then? Or did they change it just now?
The issue is that If you have a free daily backup, then you must spend it even if the vehicle has its own vehicle-locked backup. Which I feel it makes no sense, as you (or me at least) end up not respawning the vehicle in order to save the daily backup for something that doesn’t haves backups… which feels stupid, you have that vehicle backup, why can’t use it? Why force the players to spend a daily backup on a vehicle that already haves a backup?
I am talking about vehicle-locked backups:
AMX-10M here has 6 vehicle backups, but you can’t skip the Daily universal and use the AMX-10Ms’ backups… And it’s the same for any vehicle with a backup, can’t use them if you still have a daily backup.
Not a bug according to support. Opened a suggestion and wasn’t approved. Well then, if it’s a design feature for ~reasons~, then I am sick of it.

Oooh ok, I see the point here then. IF they do make any further changes to allow for the use of the already applied backups on a specific vehicle, I just do NOT want the system to go back to automatically “selecting” the used up/empty amount of the free daily backups. It was honestly kind of a minor thing, but every extra second spent having to fiddle around with clicking to actually be able to use one of my universal backups was quite frustrating.
Thank you for the extra clarification on how not being able to choose between the free backups and backups on specific vehicles is causing frustration to others. I mostly just have a pile of universal backups and not many backups tied to specific vehicles so I had not run into this issue.
Your original post got hidden. I would recommend making a small edit to it so that your original post shows back up again. Fwiw, I did NOT report your post. I initially “disagreed” with what I assumed was not an issue, but I still would not have clicked the report button on something that is very obviously not against the rules, and was a discussion topic/post made in good faith.

Oh! The 3 minutes is a “cooldown”! You just have to wait 3 minutes before it will allow you to edit! You should be able to edit it after the 3 minutes has passed. IF you are still unable to edit, we should contact a forum mod to unblock it.
(You might need to reload the page for the edit button to show up? And/or try opening a new tab etc. It should let you edit it by now.)
Again, I saw 0 rules broken with your post, no offensive language (at least not anything I remember being out of line), and a completely valid topic to discuss without being hidden.
In all fairness, this seems to be a very personal preference. Most people would not want to use indefinate backups before they use the ones with only a few hours duration. Most would also like to use specific backups before universal backups, while a few have a problem with that.
If it were implemented the other way around, many people would complain that gaijin wastes their backups. Personally, I have no issue with the way it currently works.
Just let us choose, same as with universal and nation backups. That’s why many players consider it to be a bug (can choose daily or universal backup and daily or nation backup, but must use daily if you have vehicle backup) and why I opened a bug report.
I"m late to the party, I am not a forum regular. But this is something I find deeply annoying as well. the lack of choice is strange. Because when you don’t have vehicle specific backups you can choose either your daily, universal, or nation specific, but when you do, nah sorry just your dailies. How and when I use my backups should be up to me in my view.
To address Dodo-Dud’s point, to say most people have x preference seems disingenuous, without providing some poll. One can only assume because of his personal preference that others feel the same way.
I don’t see this as a bad thing the daily’s replenish daily for free, your vehicle backups don’t unless you purchase more from universal backups which are finite or bought with ge, you can only spawn a vehicle twice anyway even with backups. Build some backup stockpiles.
The bad thing is that you are forced to spend a daily even if the vehicle haves a backup. Dailies are more useful for vehicles without a backup and this ends in silly stuff like not respawning a vehicle that haves backups in order to save the daily for something else…
It’s a restriction so poorly thought that players mistake it for a bug.
Backups a backup the daily’s are free, vehicle ones aren’t I’d rather spend the free ones and stockpile the universal and vehicle ones for when I need them
Yes, but the issue is not with using/saving the universal backups. The issue is with the backups that are already on a specific vehicle. They/we cannot chose to use those specific backups first, before the Daily Free backups or the Universal ones.
Three “types” of backups: Free Daily, Universal, and Backups which are already spent/applied to a specific vehicle.
This is annoying but if I’m reading this correct I think Gaijin just needs to stop being laxy and make it so we can still choose which backup we use instead of being forced to use the free dailys
Oh come on, it is simple materialist logic. One thing will be gone in a matter of hours, the other will last for years. Both perform the very same same purpose. Which would the average person prefer to use?
Sure, choice would be nice but it isn’t a devious plan to make you waste your free backups.
