Can someone please tell me what shell I should use in an M47 to 1 shot a Maus from the front?

As per title, id just like to know which shell I can use on the M47 to Kill a Maus from the front in 1 shot.
And I do mean 1 shot.

Thank you in advance.

There aren’t many shells in the game that can oneshot a Maus frontally, even large high power APHE or artillery sized HE are inconsistent in doing that.

For the M47 you should use the HEATFS for a maus frontally, but don’t expect to kill him in one shot unless he has taken damage before.

The only way for you to oneshot a maus to begin with is by hitting his side armor and the ammo rack behind it.

Then forget M47, get a plane with a bomb. Considering that there will be two crewmember in the chassis (driver and “machine gunner” aka assistant driver) you can’t one-shot-one-skill a Maus. Firstly you usually target the gunner, then the driver and whoever takes the gunner seat or aim for the secondary 75 mm cannon ammo to cause ammo detonation in the turret and target the driver.

Oh, ok. So its impossible then?

Can you explain why it just happened to me in game then, while driving a Maus, which was completely undamaged??

You can just kill the gunner with HEAT-FS and flank to shoot the ammo, unless the ammo is in the turret.

Oh that is classic overpressure being glitchy.

You can see it’s overpressure because the crew are all gone before the damage card even shows the spall formation. He just got super lucky and the maus got super unlucky. Guy hit the literal magic pixel to oneshot you when 99.99999% of the tank will eat at least 2+ shots to kill.

You wish, you can consistenly oneshot the MAUS to this weakspot with HEAT

HEAT-FS is all you should be using, your standard APHE wont hurt a Maus and well APCR is a running joke.

You also should not take a Maus head on, you should flank or if you must disable the gun and then kill it at your leisure.

Not impossible, just incredibly unlikely.

So what happened with you is a an overpressure bug. Happens all the time, especially with MAUS. Dk if it’s due to absence of internal plates or something else but well.

Don’t think it’s possible unless that fool in that maus carry full ammo and fill the turret with them, that way if you penned the turret it goes boom.

There was a time they messed up some line of codes after an update which allocated ammo inside the turret of Maus even though the user carry minimum ammo, and they fixed it.

It’s overpressure. Again. We have a problem of internal armor plates going missing from time to time on the Maus. (a month ago I’ve seen a guy killing all turet crew of a Maus with a bt-5 using HE)

Use HEATFS. From the front, shoot at his turret cheeks, to damage his cannon breach. From the side, you gotta know where the Ammo is, so you can ammo rack him

That ‘fool’ is me. No i do not carry full ammo. 25 main, 20 for the smaller gun.

Anyway, you can see from the replay it clearly says “Crew knocked out” if he had killed me by destroying ammo it would have stated “Ammo destroyed” or something.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions guys that this is yet another bug. At first I thought it must be that ‘if you are reversing your modules are out side you tank’ bug, but gaijin promised they fixed that…

Also, we clearly have yet another issue of the replayed shots after a game, not matching what actually happened.
Even the shot that supposedly killed me, does not when I look at what happened. There is clearly a desync between that actual shots that occurred in the game, and what happened on the server. Not only that, I have multiple instances of shots completely destroying my tank, or my shell hitting an enemy and doing no damage, yet the same shell shot in the hanger returns completely different results!

I will hopefully be uploading more evidence of these bugged shots soon to my YT channel. (yeah i know its not popular. its not supposed to be really. its just for memories and highlighting bugs that Gaijin love to claim don’t exist)

Thank you for the other replies, but i do not actually need advice on what ammo and where to shoot a mouse. I was just looking for a discussion on this topic without brining about certain biasses.

Just very unlucky, there is a spot where they can hit that overpressures the entire tank, the shell explodes above a thin plate so what destroyed you is the pressure going downwards from the impact point and through the plate at the top of the hull.

Shouldn’t happen, period

Why not? It’s a pressure wave that travels in all direction from the origin of the explosion.

Size = distance, internal structure, reflections, interference etc, but mainly the size.

Bigger HE shells - maybe, but certainly not a puny (90mm?) HEAT shell.
Engine damage? Sure, not the total crew obliteration.

Like 30mm fire crackers size ammo also nuke the entire tank which the interior is big enough to house a harem bro it’s like the setting says 0 or 1.

But in your image you can see that it says that there is only possible damage to engine and transmission. I believe that you might be right anyway, in the fact that the Replay shot in the hanger showed all of the turret crew dying, but there is no way the 2 people in the front of the tank should have been hit by that too.
