Camouflage in ground battles

I’d like to start with saying I do not play ground often, or when I do, not very well.

Camouflage is a key part of warfare, if your enemies can’t see you, you hold the advantage. Sun Tzu said it best, “All warfare is based on deception” - Sun Tzu, Art of War. With that being said, it makes sense that the game offers many camouflage options in the store, and on War Thunder live. But this brings up a question, why do some players add camos that do not reflect the setting? like the anime skins, or meme skins. Personally, i would imagine that this doesn’t help you in game. I know enemies can’t see it, but still. your preset camo might be wrong for your setting, like using a desert camo on a winter map. I only use custom skins in Air, where camo matters not, I was just asking why people take the risk with these skins.

should have figured

It’s a game so why not right? Personally I have the fictional stuff turned off as I’m not a body pillow fan but to each their own.

Cuz its just a game and its fun. We have free will. Some I add bushes, some I add body pillows/anime, some I add a snow-motorcycle, teddy bear, hats, shields cuz why not. Some I leave it blank and drive as it is or add the nation’s flag to them. If one cares for military camo then go for it, if some want to spice it up then go for it.

The reason is pretty straightforward. The Senrai Maiden hug pillow is free while the camouflage grass is paid. Asians especially tend to love hug pillows and often avoid spending money on in-game purchases.

not everyone wants to immerse themselves in a historical setting. i dont really use anime skins but i do use foreign camos on certain jets or tanks if it looks good. i also use fictional camos that would be a disadvantage in a real battle. not everyone wants or needs to immerse themselves in history.

There’s something in Japan called “itasya” and it’s the same thing.
