I ground out the two Upgrade Tokens from last season’s BP and wanted to redeem them on the new one.
I get to the buy screen, and I can only buy the base BP with the tokens, is that right?
If I want to have the 15 level skips, I can only get that via paying the full 2,500 Gold, right? When I bought last season’s base BP I thought “well, I’ll just buy the base BP and if I get close to 75, I’ll spring for the 15 skips to get closer to the Upgrade tokens” - but doing that locked me fully out of the shop - it only let me make one purchase, this one time.
I’m guessing the same will happen if I get the “free” Battle Pass.
Seems a shame that I can’t use the two tokens to buy the BP and then top up an extra 500 Gold in order to get the 15 level skips.
Depending on what the vehicles sell for you will often be net positive if you use the upgrades to sell the vehicles on the market and then use the GJN to buy the GE needed for the shop upgrade. Not a guarantee though.
It’s valid, but I generally want the vehicles in the BP. Both of the past vehicles I want to absorb into lineups; last BP I could have taken it or left it but didn’t get the upgrade tokens (and it turns out Murmansk came in handy for Naval challenges), I thought I wanted Sholef but… well, I was less good than I am now, maybe he’s worth a replay.
If there’s no way to add-on the level skips, I reckon I’ll just take my chances with the grind. T-44 proto sounds interesting but that soft hull front sounds like it will be a nightmare to play, and I’ve no need for a 6.x Soviet premium.
That “free” pass is not that free, if you purchase the additional 15 levels. When you BUY a BP for 2000 GE, you can get the 15 levels with a discount for 500 GE.
When you purchase the 15 levels with a “free” BP, you will pay FULL price for the extra levels. You will end up saving about 800 GE (or something close to it, haven’t checked in a while) on the BP, not 2000 GE.
There is ALWAYS a catch with this game. I don’t like these kinds of practices. For me, there is zero incentive to go all the way to Level 125. The rewards are mediocre for the amount of effort needed to accomplish it. I went to Level 150 once, but never again. Higher level rewards should be better, not worse.
Bottom line is:
If you get close to 75, you have the ability to buy extra levels. But not in the special 15lvl for 500GE. That option isn’t available. If you only fall a few levels short, the price for those levels may actually be less than the 500GE. But if you need all 15, it is higher.

They enable purchase of levels after a certain amount of time after the BP starts. You don’t have to be close to Level 75 to purchase anything.
If you get that “free” BP and cannot buy any additional levels at the start (even at full price), that’s another reason not to go for the “free” BP. Stingy gaijin will be stingy.
