Is it just me or the Buk M3 radar is whack at picking stuff up both long range and visual range?
Yeah it’s very bad, it locks on ghosts, updates targets where they aren’t and fails to guide missiles most of the time
literally makes the BUK unplayable most of the time
The abysmal performance of the radar makes Buk-M3 near unplayable, because of the listed problems indeed, coupled with the fact that it is giant, and has a ‘obstacle in the way of launcher’ bug.
Agreed, the radar itself is huge so it should have no issue detecting tree-top targets on flat maps, let ALONE targets that are spawning MID AIR. By the time my radar detects a consistent targetting solution, they are already within gun/bomb range
Just had a match where I couldn’t even lock a TOMCAT POINT BLANK. What even is this? How can I spade this thing if I can’t even use it for anti air? This is ridiculous. NOT WORTH THE GRIND FOR NOW UNTIL THEY FIX THE RADAR GUYS.
All new top tier AA struggle against target that are too close (typically under 3km), it’ not exclusive to Buk
It’s not that they’re too close. It’s that the current detection from the Buks radar is sub-nominal and doesn’t work most of the time at range
I don’t have it but from the testing I did with my friend that have the Buk, you perform best if you just don’t use the main radar vehicle cuz the spin rate is so slow. Just either get the radar vehicle destroyed or turn the radar off. Only rely on the launcher’s radar. Buk is by far the best AA for long range and the missile it has is very strong, it just have a pretty bad radar cuz of slow scan speed.
the issue is the radar on the launchers are also buggy as hell.
I’ll try that, but the radar shouldn’t be this bad. The radar on the TanSamKai is slower and works way more consistently
