Buk-M3: Branching Out

You can talk about range after aircrafts start getting 40km away from the battlefield

see message above

why should I if the target cant be physically be there…

-__- curious what you think 20-40% of 100, 70 or 30 is

Only Buk M1 and M2 have SARH. Buk M3 is ARH

not how that works

https://odin.tradoc.army.mil/WEG/Asset/9K317M_Buk-M3_(9K37M3)_Russian_Medium-Range_Air_Defense_Missile_System

ODIN lists two missile options for BUK M3: first is 9M317M which is SARH, second is 9M317MA which is ARH.

yep

atm the missile is limited by its battery time (can’t hit further than 75km

It is literally ARH lmao

Like they nerfed HE-VT on M247 just because other nations had no comparable systems ?

Range buff is meaningless if your missile also gets a speed nerf…

Yes, spam from 70km away will be too much, right ?
Not like the missile will be traveling for minutes, making it much easier to intercept and units to move away from the predetermined, locked spot.

Let’s not ignore the fact airfield spammers are sitting ducks to enemy jets.

Only gamemode where 70 km range will be usable is air simulator. Its only gamemode where you can use full range.

GRB maps are bound to get bigger, at least for aircraft, so I already took that in mind.

It’s really nice to see nations getting better and better AAs before HARMs are even in the game.

Yep agree.
I have to say that Buk was always my favourite SAM system. Finally we have it also in game. I hope that we will get also earlier versions later.

Indeed, Pantsir got really old the moment UFOs were added. What we need is 12.7 BR or something already.

Should also make the firing unit something you have to research if it has the capability to operate independent of the control unit. Much like a foldered vehicle.

So the base vehicle lets you use the firing units but like other SPAAs, if the control unit is destoryed, thats it. No jumping in the firing unit. But if you reseach and unlock the firing unit afterwards, then you get its ability to use its own radar. It doesn’t have to have a high RP cost, but it shouldn’t be free.

I’m not against it.

You really want to give Gaijin some terrible ideas.

Not really. Its quitely literally two seperate vehicles at that point.
