Better than what a lot of other nations have, Italy still using an R3 which is 6.0 now somehow.
I wouldn’t say it struggles at its own BR anymore since the optical seeker was added, but taking it to 11.0 is still rather sad.
I’d like to see some historical fixes done that might help it:
- Photocontrast seeker correction to visible light CCD imaging. This would essentially remove any artificial clutter, only losing lock when the seeker cannot distinguish the target from its direct background. This also means there won’t be any weird situations where a black Kamov somehow cannot be locked in the snow “because it flies low”.
- Corrected G load. The Type 91 is a rather agile missile that is in no way less agile than the Stinger it was meant to replace. While exact figures aren’t known it would still be a good change to keep it equal to the Stinger until we know exact values.
- Adding Type 91 Kai missiles. Essentially Type 91 missiles but with smokeless motor and IIR (IR imaging) seeker.
Though I can see it moving up a bit too much with Type 91 Kai, maybe they’ll make that a foldered “late” variant. This one could even include Saab Barracuda Thermal camo netting.

Just buff the Stinger and Stinger style missles such as the Type 91, Mistral etc.
as an avid type93 enjoyer myself, I’d say it’s probably the most balanced it has ever been. The bad missiles are made up for by the unexpected positioning, and most of the problems locking helicopters have been fixed. Plus the BR and the name are the same which I think is funny
