Buff all harriers, every harrier jets needs to be reworked

never said it was wrong I said the engine overheating is why it almost never hits that speed

It tops out at .93 no matter how hard its pushed.

ive pushed it faster than that in a shallow dive, besides you listed .915 as the top speed and that’s lower than .93 also the harrier isn’t meant to go supersonic under normal circumstances

I didn’t say that’s its top speed. I said it should reach that at its lower thrust setting. In a shallow dive its said to do 1.25 Mach. Level flight at sea level with 60% throttle it should do .92-3 depending on model. With a higher thrust rating you get the faster speeds that are 630 knots plus.

it does it just takes a longer time to accelerate

Show me a harrier doing .96 mach at sea level… in level flight

so you say 9.3 and then change it to 9.6… FYI the harrier isn’t meant to go 9.6 is horizontal flight if it does then its being pushed to WEP for a long time. and the airframe isn’t the limiting factor its the fact that the engines don’t have a very efficient cooling system

.93 is its top speed in game with WEP. Its top speed should be around .96 this is what it can do IRL. The level flight envelopes that are seen in the flight manuals are based off of the engines 15 min max thrust setting. After that you can set the engine to normal lift dry and go even faster then .93 mach. IRL ofc.

In game to even reach .93 Mach you need to use WEP or short lift wet.

So no nothing to do with cooling it can do .96 Mach safely for 2.5 minutes.

Harrier buff update today?

“Ha! No!” -Smin probably

I mean, there quite literally was:

But ok I guess :)

I mean one that isn’t just a exploit of words to be lazy and still break some of the Harriers anyway

This was a fix directly from a report made by the OP of this topic: Community Bug Reporting System

So its really not clear what you are referring too.

This has only positively improved the Harriers performance.

If you check the datamines, and know what the values mean, it’s a quite noticeable large change that will definitely help it perform.

Details of the change
    • arm longitudinal coordinate shift by AoA adjusted:
      • will not shift until past 20 deg AoA by 0.1 unit,
    • 0% flap deployment:
      • lift coefficient after critical AoA increased from 0.72 to 0.92,
      • critical AoA increased from [-21 deg / 21 deg] to [-23 deg / 23 deg],
      • wing arm shift by Mach number adjustments:
        • at M0 will now shift longitudinally by -0.06 units instead of 0,
        • at M0.2 will now shift longitudinally by -0.06 units instead of 0,
        • at M0.8 will shift back to neutral,
    • 100% flap deployment:
      • lift coefficient after critical AoA increased from 1.12 to 1.42,
      • critical AoA increased from [-20 deg / 21 deg] to [-21 deg / 26 deg],
      • wing arm shift by Mach number adjustments:
        • at M0 will now shift vertically by 0.25, longitudinally by -0.12 units instead of 0,
        • at M0.2 will now shift vertically by 0.25, longitudinally by -0.12 units instead of 0,
        • at M0.8 will now shift vertically by 0.3, longitudinally by -0.02 units instead of 0,
    • will mean generally slightly more available AoA and better lift at high AoA and while stalled,
  • aileron controller:
    • sensitivity decreased from 0.22 to 0.2,
    • sensitivity change depending on Cl change from [0, 0] to [0.01, -0.01]
      • will mean generally slightly less effective roll control and increased/decreased respectively depending on change in Cl (e.g. pulling AoA),
  • elevator controller:
    • sensitivity multiplier adjustments:
      • at M0 from 1.0 to 1.6,
      • at M0.3 from 1.0 to 1.6
        • will mean more effective pitching control and increased responsiveness until M0.9

Also minor correction to smin, no, it does technically have one thing the change makes worse, which is a roll sensitivity decrease.

For increased takeoff stability, so this overall still is a positive improvement.

I mean, it’s still more sensitive on takeoff then before, no? Cause the tail bleed force for roll also got increased?

Takeoff performance overall (including stability) has been improved.

There is better all round performance in takeoff and low speed handling.

Trying to frame this as somehow a negative change is very much incorrect.

Just a side question: are older heli going to get updated damage

All helicopters will

Okay, thanks for the correction. And i wasn’t really trying to frame it as negative, as i said the rest of it is a massive buff ( * lift coefficient after critical AoA increased from 0.92 to 0.98 is a massive change), But i see I misunderstood how the roll values would come into play.
