Air assault mode is broken for top tier. There is not single plane to kill if you play Air Assault mode from 10.0 because you get paired with 12.7 planes with top missiles killing all planes before you can fire missile on it. Either the Air Assault mode should be buffed with stronger enemies like Ground Assault mode or limit the team to 6 players that can fight the AI aircrafts.
Stronger/faster enemy targets won’t help the problem of older planes not being able to “compete” with missile boats. Nor will reducing the team sizes.
The Assaults need BR range decompression (just like the rest of the game modes). High tier especially needs to be split into at least two brackets.
You will get longer waiting time just to split the groups instead reduce or buff the enemies instead. I don’t see why top tier jets shooting down prop planes from WW2.
Buffing the enemies will make it hard/impossible to win if you happen to get a team full of lower tier planes. Top tier planes will still overperform lower ones so the problem will remain.
You mean 6.7, the bracket is 6.7-12.7; it’s possible to queue a J2M and get teamed with F-14s. New brackets have been asked about for some time, and >12.7 planes have been unable to play at all for well over a year now.
No signs of anything changing either.
Not a horrible change, other than Norway (entirely because of low base health + artillery) it’s very easy and the BR gap means top tier planes have absurdly overfarm to get any worthwhile RP.
Really the mode needs an overhaul, but I’d settle for more matchmaking brackets.
Maybe a total rework into a DCS-ish? style PVE EC with more interesting missions instead of 12 - 16 people in F-14 sweating on each other trying to compete on killing some ww2 bombers?
for example: SEAD, CAS friendly NPCs before they gets destroyed by enemy NPCs, Strike enemy bases or special targets within given timer (maybe a special vehicle or building or Scud hunt etc), intercept Bombers or Helicopters (that actual does some maybe pre-planned difficult flying like in a canyon or hiding within terrains instead of flying like a rocket at maximum throttle), sometimes a swarm of enemy Fighters spawn and random ground AA etc etc… Maybe AI fleets to destroy make the AShM on F-2 and Tornado MFG actual has something to do aswell.
We already have a similar stuff (Helicopter PvE) but it’s boring and its rewards are usually kind of ehh but that’s fixable and is another topic.
If they add this for aircrafts I would stick in this all day…
It really is hard to group in a way to not let the wait times be so high… it would most likely have to be worked around say for instance missile types.
An example could be 6.7 - 10.7 wherein you really dont see more than sarh/rear aspect ir… just a consideration.
Years back even on the old forum we even had lengthy suggestions with vehicles for each map, etc… but it was never more than that…
Both assault modes and heli pve are in dire need of a overhaul with regards to where we are now, and new mission types, maps, etc would be great… would even like to see bomber type maps…
But, as every update comes out, after reading no patch notes regarding those modes, its harsh to hold on to hope for sure. But it seems that is a common theme across all the current game modes… i can understand the frustration.
The only advice I can give if you try to bring lower aircraft into that bracket is to stagger and predict waves… rather than trying to go after each one, watch the direction they come from and ensure you are near the area that would appear next to get some kills. I admit it isnt very fun, and its a gamble, but if you can manage to do it, you can still get a decent payout with time/activity at end of match.
