Well F-47 has lower claimed range for now, and its engine thrust class seems to be lower.
I think it’s very likely GCAP will cost more just because of how much bigger it is, they will put bigger and more expensive equipment in it, which isn’t a bad thing but does make it tougher to justify buying.
And then there is F/A-XX, I think this one might be more export friendly
Valid concerns, especially given GCAP is not using adaptive cycle engines so its No.1 way to increase range will be more fuel which leads to at least to a volumetrically bigger aircraft. I would say that the F-47 engines would be the most expensive to develop, procure and maintain given the overwhelming complexity.
I suppose it would be worth asking what a eyewatering price both platforms will have in terms of maintenance cost. Also the thrust of GCAPs engines is completely unknown for now.
Wouldn’t surprise me, we are generally thinking of replacing the T2 or later typhons I believe. AKA we are looking at 100 ish airframes, roughly the same is expected for Italy and Japan I think.
They said before the last update that they would first see how the LMM performs before deciding whether to add it in the next patch, but it seems now… they might have forgotten.
A man hears that variable BR is now a thing,
a man also heard BL-755 is now something to sling.
A man posts his dreams
It is time to bring back the strikemaster memes.
This doesn’t prove it’d be added this patch or that it was going to be then “forgotten”, just that it may come, but “not in this major update” (last update)
Okay, then we can only wait for future updates. I’m quite looking forward to it being added, as it would greatly improve the HVM’s performance, particularly for countering reconnaissance UAVs and intercepting missiles.
