British Weapon Systems - Technical data and discussion

Thats not an argument. Stuff like the 38MT (allegedly) or the IR Hammers work similarly Irl but in game they use the same mechanics as any other FnF weapon. The Brimstones could easily be implemented in the same simplified way to avoid the problems with LOAL.

It wasn’t previously known to the developers that the Kh-38MT and AASM-IR operated in this way, before they ended up getting modeled as LOBL, whereas it is known to developers how the Brimstone works. So it isn’t really an argument to equate Brimstone to the other mentioned missiles in this scenario.

That is just patently wrong. They have stored target profiles which would be an incredibly easy way to bypass Gaijin’s made up concerns, especially for NE.

Sure. Let’s also open the pandoras box of SPAA performing as it should do, though.

We cant have that.
Gaijin, like with some other things, seem to question performance of many SPAA.

We all know the Sky Sabre does not actually have datalink. That would be ridiculous.

You might be correct for the Hammers but it was absolutely clear for the 38MT considering that literally the only source that ever mentions it in the first place states its LOAL capabilites and combined with the awful seeker its clear that it cant LOBL over its entire range.
And id still say its absolutely an argument considering that both weapons still work that way in the game and did not get removed or reworked over that new information.

It does.
Both irl and in game.
The difference would be that IRL it is 2 way.

Ignoring Brimstone, I think the game would be in a much worse state if everything that was found to be working incorrectly and not yet corrected or removed is used as an excuse to incorrectly model something else. The answer should be to correct the non-historical equipments.

Oh please. The 38MT is in the game for over 2 years now. Its not gonna get corrected or removed ever. Same with the Hammers. Theyre working as intended for Gaijin closing the FnF gap for France and russia while simultaneously not being as toxic as proper LOAL weapons would be.

There are tons of weapons that are incorrectly modeled due to missing capabilites like LOAL. In the case of LOAL rightfully so since its an incredibly hard to balance mechanic. There is 0 reason for Brimstones to stay in their neutered state when there are already weapons in the game that get different treatment regarding how they work. Especially considering that a simplified LOBL Brimstone would literally just be a dumbed down version of its real life version which applies to so many weapons in this game already.

This would be my solution to it as well

Also then balances the potential quantity advantage at the same time.

That entire argument completely falls apart when you consider mode 2, where the target is painted with a laser and when the missile goes active at about 9km (not 2km no idea where you got that figure from), it becomes FnF.

Spoiler

No LOAL like with mode 3, no possible chance of (accidental) friendly fire, etc etc

Every single argument for why not to add MMW Brimstones just falls apart with mode 2.

Finally upgrade from Brimstone 1s to Brimstone 2s and we’d be largely set. Heck, mode 2 Brimstones 2s would still be largely weaker than most FnF weapons already in-game, as you can only really target one thing at a time, and not spam weapons at a dozen targets

Though it’s stupid now that we have NE that A2G is still dictated by GRB, so we should have mode 3 in air modes, even if it’s blocked in ground modes (stupidly high SP cost for mode 3 variants would be the way I’d do it)

It was sarcasm as it currently does not function properly in WT

Hope that Gaijin are breaking this trend with whatever the new ammunition type is next update…

I doubt it.

Its probably CBUs and I can see them being selectively added and maybe also added in limited quantities to ensure they arent a problem in GRB, which is just gunna screw over aircraft in NE

We’ll see. I remain cautiously & foolishly optimistic

Yeah… but until they overhaul how they handle balancing A2G additions to aircraft, so instead of just denying or artificially restricting loadouts so that aircraft acheive a desired BR In GRB, they are balanced properly in such a way that allows for full loadouts in Air modes, its always going to be an issue.

Would love to use ALARM on the Tonka GR1 because I dont think the AS.37s are actually really usable in NE currently, especially if facing OSAs

I’m grinding Sweden at the moment and holy hell NE is completely pointless. Top of my team with the JAS-39A and only got 13k RP in total…

Yeah, a good example of the issue

Indeed. Think a not insignificant part of it comes down to Sweden’s lack of anti radiation missiles however I barely use those in GB anyway so certainly not the main issue.

If it could get them, the best option for the Gripen A would be GBU-39s. That would make it a very solid aircraft for the BR in NE
