Without wishing to detract from this esteemed thread, I’d like to offer an area for aircraft ordnance in particular. My focus at the moment is on WW2 to Postwar bombs in British service, with the intent to create some bomb Suggestions and perhaps a revision of UK bombs 1939-1960 in future.
Any help from those more knowledgeable on the subject would be welcome.
Yeah, Ive had this a few times. I think whats happening is they are still really unstable, the target then falls out of the seekers PoV and then it self destructs.
it was reported in the dev server of the overhaul and to no ones surprise, never fixed
Weirdly I’ve found that high AoA missiles are less likely to do this if you fire them pointing behind the target instead of in front of them (anecdotally).
I think there are also some cases where if a target would outspeed the missile for even a small portion of flight, the guidance code freaks out and calculates that the required lead is infinite/0 and just goes whack. I think that’s what happened here, the missile calculated that its required lead at it’s current speed was ridiculously high and threw itself so hard it lost the target.
Yeah, SRAAM either fails spectacularly or pulls AoA so extreme that it has pseudo reverse thrust and then chases after the target that’s gone behind the carrier aircraft

Ignoring the fact that was preproduction testing really doesn’t make you look any sharper. Su 57 is a completely adequate project after revisions. Not flawless, not exceptional, but it has since become completely adequate. Still things to critique on production platforms, don’t need to look at preproduction.
Most things look dubious before production is finalised.
Whenever you mention woodscrews (RCS and Hornet are also keywords that work well) - it drives the die-hard Felon-Fanboys absolutely nutty. You are of course correct that production models are likely refined.
Does it remove the unfettered joy I get from winding up certain people who take themselves and a jet fighter too seriously? No.
The only serious thing I will say is that the F-35 has been proven as a stealthy platform going up against some incredibly dense IADS over the past two years.
The SU-57 has been kept WELL AWAY from contested areas - which you’d think wouldn’t be a problem if the stealth was as good as the manufacturers claim.
My frustration is simply that folk resorting to sledging preproduction opens up boring discussions of look how substandard preproduction thingos are across the board. Plenty to critique stuff over without looking at preproduction, for most anything really.
Seen evidence leaning both ways. It’s just hard to find information on it given the current circumstances in certain areas. Doesn’t overly help that certain economic issues are going to limit the deployment of it, compared to other platforms.
Aye, just peeved at the preproduction sledging. Goes for nigh anything, Ruski or Pommie, or even yank abominations. Was going to disappear back to making dinner after the comment.
