ALARMs kinda suck in ARB and it makes me v sad, especially when they get intercepted by AI SPAA despite attacking from outside their radar’s search pattern.
Dropped a bug report, but I can see the “Not a bug” in my mind already.
Yeah, they did exactly what I was expecting them to do. Which was nothing.
No meaningful targets to actually use them against in either ARB or ASB
Yeah, it’s such a shame, even just swapping the AAA on to top tier maps for Shilkas would have been great.
Although I’ve had some success using them against ships, but the Sea Eagles are much better for that anyway (though I notice those are much worse with terrain now, they used to terrain hug wire quite well, but now they just gently slam into the turf).
I really wish Gaijin would lean into the weird weapons and play styles - I’d love to go after ships in ARb for example, but when it takes 4 ASMs to kill one and get the same rewards as killing an artillery, it feels like you’re being punished.
This.
It infuriates me. I have a fondness for maritime strikes (be it torpedoes, skip bombing, or missiles) and there is 0 reward for it nor incentive. If you do it at low ratings, your torpedo/skip bombers are often amongst the worst platforms at the rating and in the event you do see naval vessels, you’re often flying directly into the opposition with little hope of survival. At mid ratings, you loose many torp bombers (At least Tu14 has a torp), so you’re relegated to bombs with often the same limited hope for survival.
Now we have ASMs at toptier (except for a few nations) and can now strike them. Except our radars have substandard discrimination for naval targets, so we have to get close to confirm the nature of our locked target. At ratings where ARH missiles are loosed from orbit with nary a care to chaff nor multipath, as being a low target makes you a tasty target. The alternative of climbing? You’re carrying a few extra tonnes of ordnance so you’re slower than the rest, and this extra ordnance takes up pylons you’d generally use for AAMs, so you can’t contest the altitude overly well.
So we’re back to the same “Dubious hopes for survival, sod all reward”.
Maritime strikes especially should be rewarding, especially with dedicated munitions or tactics. Hell, provide the maritime targets some teeth so it’s at least fun to go against. Convoys would be nice, but even just better rewards + a more engaging attack profile being required would be nice.
Do we know if the sea harriers will be getting their sea eagle’s?
It’s a harrier. You can safely say they’re going to let it rot.
Smin said they needed to model its pylons or something, but seemed like they were coming
Hey so if Eurofighter can carry 6 ALARM why doesn’t it get any at all and only has 2x AGM-88C? I doubt balancing should be an issue when it’s (at least, the AESA version) literally 14.7
Makes too much sense, therefore gaijin cant do it.
Yeah… No one knows. But where the Typhoon is concerned, they constantly nerf its A2G.
Because triangles aren’t allowed nice things without months of pulling teeth, if that.
Has anyone reported the Churchill Crocodiles trailer killing it when it explodes
PGM/1/2/3 will cause target point to become invalid. // Gaijin.net // Issues
PGM is currently experiencing many bugs.
@Gunjob @Smin1080p_WT
the biggest bug is the laser PGM is currently completely unusable in third-person mode.
i also love how they replace the PGM mod with the laser one and made us research the IR ones again

at least fix this…
the laser PGM is currently completely unusable in third-person mode.
