I would be semi satisfied if they were the outer pylon ALARM that didnt block any other loadout option, meaning you could ALWAYS run 2, at the cost of only having 2. Those are the ones I want in ARB/ASB the most too. So its a sucky compromise, but a compromise that would work
Would note that they don’t consider fixing brimstone to be an option to make there be a feeling of progression if Gr1’s engines are fixed.
Gaijin will buff the Tornado after they’ve buffed the CR2 in line with all the reports submitted, followed by nerfing the BMPT - but not before a Squadron of Flying Pigs, accompanied by the Dambusters Soundtrack - flies forth like a Porcine Version of the Red Arrows.
…for the avoidance of doubt there may be a teeny tiny bit of sarcasm in the above sentence…
Yeah, felt like he just ignored the spirit of the comment for the letter of it.
I was tempted to go for a round 2 using examples such as missiles which have their navigation systems changed for balance over time (man in the loop systems being primary for this though IIRC there have been other instances in the past) but I felt it a lost cause to even try tbh.
The nations most likely to gain from it are the nations that generally get shafted for new weapons tech anyway which is a shame as balancing everyone to a similar standard is something thats okay to do now and then, they did that before.
I would have been very happy if they at least just opened it to a player decision like they did APHE, then they could just rely on that for their counter. “the players were in favour/against it so we did/didnt do it”.
They’re fully capable of doing this well, but I didn’t expect them to mess it up this badly.
We got ARMs on the following;
F/A-18A Early - 4x AGM-88A
AF/A-18A - 4x AGM-88A
F/A-18F - 6x AGM-88C
Tornado GR.4 - 9x ALARM
Typhoon FGR.4 - 2x AGM-88C
Typhoon FGR.4 (ECRS MK.2) - 2x AGM-88C

(Sad no 6 HARM on EF)
Damn, they really don’t like the idea of the Typhoon having a competitive A2G loadout
Honestly, incredibly disappointed in it not coming to Typhoon or Harrier. Typhoon’s ugly, but toptiers should have good payloads when it is a valid configuration. Harrier’s just useless without ARMs.
We desperately need flavour to be put back in the game, make nations unique again for gods sake.
Paveway IV, Brimstone, SPEAR 3, ALARM, ASRAAM and AMRAAM for British Typhoons.
Remove the LJDAM, HARM and SPICE, we don’t use them, and remove British weapons from those who don’t use them.
Enough with the double standards and this infuriating homogenisation.
So why hasn’t Gaijin given the Typhoon FGR4 the ability to carry ALARM missiles, not even the Tornado F3 gets ALARMs.There’s no reason the Typhoon should only be limited to carrying two anti-radiation missiles at its battle rating. I think the interceptor variant Tornado should also get anti-radiation missiles since it has no other ground attack ordnance.
Tried out using ALARM, and every single attempt to use them has been intercepted bar 1 missile from a suicide close attack which got a “crit” on the enemy.
NGL I dont see why gaijin seem to think it would be stupidly OP on a slightly lower BR. The moment a NASAMs, CLAWS or something similar spawns in (which at that BR is common) your entire setup is negated.
Not surprised at all
The only silver lining is that now SPAA drivers have the additional need to either avoid or shoot down ARMs that ‘might’’ be headed for them. Less attention and ammunition that they can thus spend on shooting at CAS?
Dont forget they also get to reload themselves too, and respawn for cheap.
It also doesnt help if nobody on your team spawns actual cas either xD
700 points to spawn in and a lot of effort for an extremely niche role.
I have had decent luck with them, killed a pantsir and flarakrad but also accidentally teamkilled a HQ11. I hope the Typhoons get ALARM and whatever other ARMs they used.
Looks like the AJ.168 Martel doesn’t leave a big smoke trail anymore
Takes effort to model individual systems. I am amazed we have a working ALARM
Tried it in live, 9 alarms is very funny against player controlled ADATS and ito90.
