If it continues like this everyone will be wage slaves for a small few mega corps. Just like the late and early 1800-1900s.
The solution is really so simple, De-privatize certain sector companies (Electric, Gas, Oil, I mean British steel is owned by the Chinese!!!) Make all infrastructure state run so we don’t have disasters like HS2 again.
Put massive tariffs/regulations on things like Tesco’s, Amazon, Sainsburys, ect. and then start new schemes for local people wanting to open local small businesses.
We have more homes per capita than we did in the 1970s too the actual housing issue is caused by private investors and developers sitting on property that they got planning permits for as this drives the value up making everything more expensive.
Personally I probably wouldn’t put tariffs on food supermarkets, but big box stores and the big online retailers makes some sense. The best option is probably rent control on commercial property. I distinctly remember my last workplace the landlords trying to increase the rent to something like 8k PCM from 3.5k PCM. A store who’s quiet periods got as low as 12k-15k PCM. Math doesn’t math. That town center had a lot of closed stores weirdly enough. :thonk:
I’d also do grants and low interest loans to help indie stores get started.
Yup. Doesn’t help house prices are insane too, like the 15% deposit on a 200k home is still more than I make in a year even if I work OT. (24k vs 30k deposit). That’s not getting to the horrible shared ownership schemes running these days (100k for 40% of a 2 bed apartment not too far from me).
no its only 20mm, so its perfect for 7.3/7.7 br. there is no need for it to be higher is other nations can have a radar spaa at 7.3/7.7 then why can’t britain have this, it doesn’t need to have apds
