STARStreak and LMM are interchangable. If it can fire one it can fire the other.

Also a qustion, when was name changed from StarStreak to STARStreak?

I believe both names have been used for a long time.

STARStreak appears to be the “real” name but Starstreak is still used interchangably

probably something to do with the 1000’s of bug reports they will get with video evidence

The fact that the Javelin’s Field Manual is Class A

Means that its not much of an issue of at least modeling the basic variant correctly, the later ones are a little sketchy but aren’t that different, and even then would have to pay the A2G F&F / Contrast seeker tax that exists solely so they don’t completely dumpster those that rush into things.

Does anyone know what these two “bombs” are on the Lightning?

I’ve searched a lot and cannot find anything on them, I was thinking they were possibly napalm/incendiary or fuel tanks.

50 gallon firebomb (i.e. napalm)

Great, I may try and bug report to see if we can get them added to the Lightning F.53

That would give it more use in arb as you could take out a base while also having 2 Red Tops.

Do you know the weapons exact name? I cannot find much info on it online

I also noticed these:

Is that also a fire bomb?

BAC 75 gallon underwing drop tank (again, same type was on Strikemaster)

I’ve had no luck finding the official designation for the fire bombs, is 50 Gallon firebomb their full name?

Don’t know if anyone will know the cause of this, but why does the sabot on the conqueror consistently shell shatter on flat surfaces and consistently get stuck on the first crew member it encounters? To my mind, it should be in one side and out the other on most of the things shot at, if the figures shown on the card are remotely accurate. This seems the right thread to ask, but if not I’ll create a new discussion.

Look at this beautiful thing. First time I’ve seen a 2-Pdr, 3-Inch Howitzer, and Besa combined mounting in metal.

I think I’d just put it down to being early APDS, you can compare it to other APDS rounds in the datamine if you feel like it

Me, neither. I’ve only ever seen post-war British fire bombs referenced in a Flight International article on the Lightning Mk.53 and a BAC brochure for Strikemaster

Perhaps not used by the RAF, so no designation.
They’re probably a modified fuel tank

Britten-Norman Islander/Defender fuel tanks

If that’s the case, really don’t see why it’s all that high up with a round that does fuck all when from all appearances it shouldn’t struggle at all against the targets it is going up against. Pretty frustrating that I get more use out of hesh than apds.

Would there be any advantage in game switching from J band to I band and vice versa?

Some RWRs don’t cover J band so that’s an advantage of J band.

Up-armoured Challenger A30 Challenger with 25mm applique armour plates on the turret cheeks, upper front and lower front armour plates.

This brought the armour up to:

Turret cheeks: 88mm (+ angling)
Frontal hull: 89mm
Lower frontal plate: 82mm (+ angling)

That armour isnt going to stop a ton at 5.3, but it would certainly help stop weaker guns such as the short 75mm on the Jumbo.

This added around 1.5 tons of weight bringing the tank from 31.5 tonnes to 33, not a huge issue with the 600hp engine.

Challengers were also fitted with additional track armour, such as this 1945 1st Polish Armoured Division one, which Gaijin could also add. If they combined these together it could make a reasonably uparmoured but still fast/deadly Challenger, possibly named Challenger “late”

Not that that matters anymore right? Didnt they make it so that all RWRs can detect all radars at least for A2A combat

There’s also the early version as well, with the original 60mm turret front. Approximately 40 vehicles were made with this.

You can tell the first image is an early turret due to the lack of the bulge around the coaxial.

So potentially there’s at least 4 A30 Challengers that could be in-game:

  • A30 Challenger (Early): Less turret armour and no APDS (balancing reasons) at 5.0
  • A30 Challenger (Mid): What we have now at 5.3
  • A30 Challenger (1st Polish): As above, except with optional track armour
  • A30 Challenger Stage 1: With the extra turret and hull applique at 5.7
