Truly, the ability of Americans to parse information they don’t like never fails to astound.
Platform is in Australian service, should be with other Australian kit. But if we want to follow your logic, let’s remove Merkavas from the yank tree (Israeli), the Ram (Canadian), the Skink (Canadian), the T14 (Designed for Britain, not the US), the Kim Qui, and the myriad captured premiums.
Short and long of it, it is an Abrams modified to our needs. It should stay with our equipment in the British tree, as we are commonwealth, not some rubbish yank subsidiary state.
Honestly I don’t think many people would think the Challenger 2s are as bad as they think they do if CAS wasn’t as oppressive as it is, The Challenger 2s are in general fine (there’s issues with the armour yes, and they do suffer from clutch steering) but they have IMO great reverse speeds and the relative weakness of the gun means jack at their BRs, as we’re all aiming at the same weakspots anyway. It’s just with how sluggish they are in the forward direction leads to a relatively static play-style, which is fine until you get domed by CAS.
IMO what the UK tree really needs is a decent top tier multi-role support tank something like GD’s Blackjax or a lighter “big gun tank” to fulfil the speed capability gap created by the CR2, e.g. India’s Zorawar LT (105mm gun + 2 Nag F&F ATGMs with 30 hp/t and 70km max speed). And the buffing of SAMs
Exactly. That is the primary reason I don’t play Britain top-tier. It doesn’t have the support vehicles to surround the Chally 2 (outside of recent additions of SPAA). The Desert Warrior has been… meh. They’ve added the Badger, which was a waste of time. They need vehicles like USSR/China have, which can operate at top-tier with ease (BMDs, AFT09s, and the like). I’d love to see them go all in on some more IFVs.
Personally I don’t find big tanks too interesting, my personal preference is LTs (like the CVRTs, Type-16, or CCVL + Friends etc) and comically upgraded tanks (e.g. Olifant Mk.2 etc).
The Desert Warrior suffers from being a worse Bradley M3A3, both could probably drop to 9.7 and be fine IMO Honestly both could drop down to 8.3 and it wouldn’t effect their relative capabilities.
Eh, the Badger is just fine, it can work, just depends in the map. It’s just another datapoint in the trend of Gaijin adding things that haven’t been designed with Warthunder’s death match play style in mind. (e.g. the SEPv2 ERA or the Challenger 2 TES/OES armour kits, intended for urban combat against non-peer infantry. The Badger being intended for essentially boarder patrols and screening.)
Not really many to add unfortunately, You’ve got the CVRT based IFVs which don’t really bring anything more top tier capable than we have already (maybe the Kastet, depends on ammunition and if it can ATGMs fire on the move), or the modern programmes which have their own issues: The FRES SV creations (Ajax, CV90 SV, Lancer and SIKA) all lack ATGMs, and the Warrior upgrade programme didn’t include an ATGM either. The Aussies don’t have any Redbacks yet (Factory starts next year), and the Canadians don’t stick ATGMs on their LAVs (although GD did show of a demonstrator with a ATGM tube and Switchblades somewhat recently).
That basically just leaves the Indian options (Zorawar, BMP-2M, & DRDO WhAP in it’s various forms), GDLS’s IFV Ajax variant that was announced recently, & the Aussie Boxer CRV.
I am aware, but as someone who has played them I don’t regularly encounter those issues.
Errr- no. Canada had domestic production for stuff even in WW1, but far more so in WW2.
The same Canada with domestic tanks like the Ram, which had over 2000 units built? The CMP truck was everywhere, being one of the most successful Allied production lines. Or how about the Sexton, which is known as the Commonwealth artillery, that is also a domestic Canadian vehicle built by Canada. I can go on with full domestic one.
The same Canada that built Hurricanes (A famous Canadian is even related to this), Valentines, Lancasters, Shermans and more?
Canada didn’t rely on the UK for production; the UK relied on Canada for it throughout WW2.
Also, the LAV family is still Canadian and still built in Ontario, that hasn’t changed.
Now then, with a nation having a domestic vehicle in game at Rank II and 3.7, how is it to be C&P until after WW2 for a nation that fought in WW2?
