To be fair “Commonwealth MBT line” likely means this is where the subtree MBTs go, not that all of the commonwealth nations go here.
Some of these, for example Pakistan, are already confirmed to be placed in other techtrees for example and thus won’t be featured in the British tree.
I think the only ones that are expected to be placed in the British tree are South Africanand Indian vehicles from the subtrees, and possibly some Ausralian and Canadian vehicles that act as on-off subtrees right now.
That’s still a lot, but nowhere near as excessive as this extreme case example listing all Commonwealth MBTs
it doesnt even say that
“After the changes, the MBT line after the Vickers Mk.1 will focus on Commonwealth tanks and export MBTs. The right line will focus on light wheeled and tracked AFVs, classified in-game as light tanks.”
Commonwealth tanks, can mean australian redbacks, canadian lavs as well and export mbts.
The only thing promised for that line specialy mbt wise are the export variants
Honestly this doesn’t even sound like much of an announcement.
Realistically speaking all this does is talk about the reorganization of the techtree where the dedicated South African line is removed and a light tank line left in its place. Tanks from the commonwealth subtrees (so currently South Africa, India and sometimes Australia and Canada) now go in the export line, but won’t be in the British MBT line. It’s probably actually (mostly) limited to MBTs though since other vehicles types also have their dedicated lines.
Saying “commonwealth tanks” was just quicker than saying “South African, Indian and possible Australian/Canadian tanks”.
So it seems like a bit of an overreaction to say “All commonwealth nations MBTs will be added to the Brititsh tree now”
Yeah personally I just hate split nations. It’s fine to spread vehicles around a bit based on technical connection for a nation that doesn’t have a fixed home in game, but to make this split up state the fixed home just seems awful.
Fair enough, Britain / South Africa / India seem to be at a point to match the US and USSR trees in potential now without further help. Though I wouldn’t know about any specific things like missing mechanics or capability gaps.
I just don’t like split nations, but where exactly Australia/Canada should be placed isn’t something I thought about much at all. I don’t really know enough about their history or the preferences of their players to say what’s best anyways.
At the end of the day all I care for is holding all nations to a consistent standard, and not treating some nations as anything less for whatever reason.
Most of us would say the UK would be the best place. The Aussies are fine with the US(at least the few I know), but for reasons as obvious as opening the news, Canadians aren’t.
With trees on the table again, a Can-ANZAC tree isn’t too crazy—in either history or vehicles.
