I would like to see every pre 1930s design get the fastest reload it can be showed they ever reasonably achieved, trial or otherwise. I think it is the only way they have a chance to stay reasonably competitive against the much more powerful ships the developers said they will add in 2025. Especially given that decompression is not a guarantee, and even if it comes could very well only be to 7.3. An Arizona sharing the 7.0 br with North Carolina or South Dakota would be ridiculous, but we already have examples of a similar power gap with say Kongo and Mutsu sharing a br, among many others.
Has anyone bug reported this?
On the US 16"/50 its 18.55kg of Explosive D which is ~16.67kg of TNT equivalent, on the UK 15"/42 its 22kg of shellite which is 20.68kg of TNT equivalent.
There is no necessary guarantee here, 570/9 is 63 metre increments, the widest battleship (Yamato) has beam of 38.9 metres, you could completely miss without too much struggle (of course this doesn’t take into account dispersion patterns but rather the raw figure), this also doesn’t account for random luck, and also repeated salvos.
I’m just dropping in to say that I’m flabbergasted at how bad Rodney feels to play.
I know it’s been talked about to death here already (the chronic flooding issues, the woefully inaccurate guns, the AP shells that deal piss for damage, etc) so I won’t get into that. I just don’t want to believe for a second that this was what the developers intended for the ship. As it stands right now Rodney could be placed at 6.3 and she would still be terrible.
I know this update was shoved out of the door in record time and Rodney desperately needed more time in development before being released. I just hope the devs actually have plans to rectify these problems once they’re back from their holiday break rather than just leaving Rodney to languish in this sorry state.
arguably worse due to the flooding the main problem and i bet cruisers with AP could cause the sinking
one of the first Rodney’s I encountered I nearly sunk with 6" HE spam from Barhams secondaries.
I doubt I would win, but I would be confident enough to put a Rodney out of action with HMS Belfast spamming HEs at the bow. I want to test to see if 4.7" HE would be enough to do the same
i do find it weird that the secondarys which to shold perform like leanders and arethusa but the slowest reload on them is faster than the reload on rodney along with the limmited shell choice
Yeah, the secondaries are really sad, would love to spam out HEs on a target, as they can cause some fires and do light crew damage
Extremely disappointing after grinding for it. It’s nearly useless no matter how good you are at playing it. Even after unlocking several modules, it doesn’t feel any better.
i have kinda just accepted i am only going to shoot at american battle ships as the ammo placment on them is just so bad and it makes them bearable to kill
Its really frustrating, sometimes it feels great and slams hard but most of the time , they just… don’t
Definetly something not quite right. I still have fun in her, but it feels like im playing with a massive handicap
Standard battleship reload on fewer barrels but with higher dispersion is a bad starting point, made worse by not having a high output secondary battery to try and compensate. Thats hard enough to play around before factoring in a vulnerability to HE spam on the level of release Arizona, just expressed through a different mechanic, that can send your reload to the better part of two minutes as you helplessly sink. Not an amazing implementation of the ship that’s for certain.
Yeah, i’ve bvasically just been sunk by a USS Fargo in the Rodney.
going by the above comments i’m glad i made the right choice to not grind for Rodney and instead go back to playing with tanks.
Rodney armor-piercing shells, do they think they are high explosive?
yeah i would stear clear of the british navel tree for a long while as i sadly dont think it will change the only reason and still unlocking things for it is i am wanting all of the british vehicals. but hey it may change but they seem to want it to just never be good
Rodney is so frustrating, not because its bad, but its so damn close to being good.
Just had a 5 kill game in it and had a blast, all the way until I got a single unrepairable breach (this time under the citadel) and then slowly sank until I died. sitll had half my crew left
Plunging fire might be the only way to go and so we definetly need that accuracy buff
This is needed not only for Rodney, but for all 15" and 16/16.1"
But most likely with the exception of 16" Colorado, because they historically have had a huge dispersion
Actually not quite, after application of delay coils US standards had their dispersion greatly improved. Colorado achieved nearly as good as Hood’s dispersion as far as I remember. These ships had dispersion issue because their barrels are so cramped together, and without delay coil, there’s a high chance where shells even kiss each other in flight.
