Britain Naval Tree - What’s left to be added for all BRs

Watch as we get something random like the Tree or Bangor class and nothing else for the rest of the year (wouldn’t mind seeing either though)

As a certified minesweeper enthusiast, those would be pretty nice to get in game. UK coastal has a need for minesweepers/corvettes, so the more the merrier.

Although not at the cost of any naval additions.

i have decided to spade rank 3 of the coastal tree i am not sure if i want to spade rank4 and 5 though

I know KGV is not the most needed battleship for Britain right now, but I hope it’s in the update 🤞

would love for it to be a late war HMS Howe

Id both love it and dread it.

With the current state of top tier… im not sure I could bring myself to play it. Especially as the devs would probably place it at 8.3 for “reasons” and you’d just constantly face Soyuz and Iowas and just be target practice for them.

Would be a cool ship. Should have come anytime in the past 3 years, ideally as a counter to the Scharnhorst… but alas, currently… Id fear it would be too much of a chore to seriously touch.

i would unlock it like i did with vanguard and then just let it sit in my hanger after playing 1 game in it

Yeah… that would probabyl be the same for me too

I goddamn love the KGV’s. It could be the worst ship in the game br for br, (likely will be one of them) I wouldn’t care. This is what true feats of naval engineering look like. Constrained by more naval treaties than any other Dreadnought in history. And yet still:

The Defenders of Hope and Glory

KGV Star Destroyer
Star Destroyer frontal profile does these masterpieces well.

Honestly there so many ingenious revolutionary intricacies to the KGVs it’s insane. I’d bet more so than any other vessel and i’m willing to defend that opinion to the death.

Just a shame that PoW had a rushed deployment and its battle with Bismark went so poorly.

That could have been an epic showdown if the RN wasnt so hamstrung

there is somthing nice about the “brutality” of the superstructure of the later british ships that just works so well

The lack of UK naval stuff shown this update is a bit dissapointing, as with the addition of Musashi, Japan is getting a second 8.7 before we get our first one.

Although I do have a slimmer of hope we get something later in the dev season that isnt ready yet, but I also have my doubts about us getting anything for naval.

For goodness sake we’re still waiting on the R-class, and any ww2 frigate. I mean c’mon, the damn French have more ww2 British frigates in the TT than the British do.

While I’m questioning Yamato class is currently worthy of 8.7 comparing to other two 8.7 ships, and also questioning Royal navy has any 8.7 candidate, It is not a big bad news.

Italy, Japan and French naval tree are literally at the end, as their rank VII battleship candidates are now all come out, GB and USA will be the only two nation that can get continuously new rank VII stuff.

Not sure the RN has a worthy 8.7 as you say. Lion 16E-38 could just about fill it with 12 guns and thick armour. Not sure about G3 particularly the finalised design would only be maybe 8.0/8.3.

G3 16.5" would have a thicker and more heavily inclined belt than Iowa at 14" inclined at 25 degrees. but would be heavily limited by it being required that Gaijin give it the proper draft which I have no confidence in.

i know it is a 1 in a quadrillion chance of it happening but N3 would possibly have a chance in ship on ship combat

Heavy lion design could go toe to toe with Yamato based on the accumulated information I’ve gathered.

General:

  • Heavy Lion: ~97,000 tons, 31.5 kn, radar FC, long range (15,000 nmi)
  • Yamato: 72,800 tons, 27 kn, optical FC (early radar), 7,200 nmi range

Main Guns:

  • Heavy Lion: 9 × 16"/45 Mk II, 2,375 lb shell, 2 rpm, ~38 km range
  • Yamato: 9 × 18.1"/45, 3,219 lb shell, 1.5 rpm, ~41 km range

Penetration (APC):

  • Yamato: Superior close-range punch
  • Heavy Lion: Faster fire, better radar accuracy, good deck penetration

Armor:

  • Heavy Lion: Belt 18", deck 9", turret face 14.7"
  • Yamato: Belt 16.1", deck 7.9", turret face 25.6"
  • Heavy Lion better deck & internal protection; Yamato thicker turrets/barbettes

AA & Secondaries:

  • Heavy Lion: 16 × 5.25", radar-guided 40mm Bofors + 20mm Oerlikons
  • Yamato: 12 × 6.1", many 25mm (ineffective)
  • Heavy Lion far superior AA

Electronics:

  • Heavy Lion: Advanced radar (Type 274/284), excellent night/bad-weather fire
  • Yamato: Primitive radar, optical gunnery only early on

Tactical:

  • Heavy Lion: Faster, longer-ranged, superior radar and accuracy
  • Yamato: Heavier shells, tougher turrets, better at short range

Verdict:

  • Close range: Yamato advantage (heavier shells, thicker turrets)
  • Long range / radar control: Heavy Lion advantage (accuracy, deck armor)
  • Overall: Heavy Lion is the more modern, flexible, and survivable ship

Most likely looks heavily like this

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Is that on Dev yet or just the asset viewer so far?
