Welcome to the pain
i am thinking it is the 37mm plate below the main belt as that is the only thing i can think will get pened my low calibers but at the same time it still makes no sense how easisly it happens as it also feels like the area is just massive that gets flooded where on every other ship i have gotten them on even from a torp wont sink you from just 1
The 38mm plate below main belt armour is deep below waterline and is unlikely to be hit by small calibre shell. The most common cause of severe flooding was hits received ahead of the citadel, where the hull is not protected by armour. Because of game design, a breach can flood the entire hull section where it locates, so the first two main turrets can get flooded even if the armour is not penetrated:
If the hull can be divided like this, I think the problem will be less severe:
Ofc there’s another problem that the ship’s hull being too weak so it can be destroyed by handful hits. If the hull can last longer before getting destroyed, unrepairable breach would not occur so quickly.
or even have each turret be in its own compartment
The dream. Though gaijin doesnt know what a water tight compartment/door is unfortunately
We can’t have the real compartmentalisation in game due to game design limitations. It’s not because developers doesn’t know that. This applies to all ships and there’s no point to bring this up. What we can do is to suggest some minor adjustments based on the current standard.
another better idea just remove unrepairable breaches being cause by non battle ship grade weapons
Yep, Torp hit, 1000lb bomb, even sustained 16" HE. I can totally beleive it would cause enough hull damage to potentially compromise a large section of the ship. But a few 6" HE shells, no chance
That sounds like a rather poor excuse but I understand where you are coming from. On that note however im sure if the dev’s wanted to make it possible they would find a way.
And if the game really cant do it when why add Battleships in the first place…
you could make artifical compartmentalisation by just speperating it into more sections that it is currently no
Even just 12 sections would be more than enough to massively mitigate the effectiveness of unrepairable breaches
For now all ships are divided to 8 ~ 10 sections depending on the ship’s dimensions. There’s no plan to increase the number of subdivisions for now.
Is Rodney on that standard? Feels more like 4 sections. Or if it is more, its 2 in the front and the citadel section is the other 7
it is 9 there are 2 infront of the main turrets for some reason. but she might aswell have 1 considering you get 1 unrepairable breach and she sinks in like 5 mins
Yeah, they definetly need to split the ship into 9 even segments
They’d rather spend the resources revising smoke appearance for ground vehicles or something equally meaningless for most people than fix a massive fundamental issue with one of the primary game modes. I don’t buy the “technical limitations” excuse.
She is being divided into 8 sections, where forward 3 and rear 2 are not fully protected by armour, leaving only 3 sections effectively inside the citadel. I think the most urgent fix is to adjust the position of the hull subdivision so that there aren’t more than 4 sections not fully protected by armour, and to increase the hull durability to battleship standards.
Definitely, would be nice to have for example 9 sections with 7 behind the main belt, a good way to replicate reserve buyouncy behind the belt perhaps?
As always thanks; I appreciate the clarification from you.
