Britain Air Forces

Well, I would be fine with the aussie F/A-18 not being considered a naval aircraft as they actually went out of their way to replace naval components to make their Hornets cheaper, but the canadians specifically chose to go with the CF-18 over the de-navalized F-18L

Last I checked all carrier functionality was kept as F-18A (and B) was just bought straight up. and L(Land) version was looked at but getting(and wanted more) the one for the Navy was cheaper. And off the line(first bought) CF-18 would be a C&P of the US tree the difference doesn’t start until the two-phased IMP program and the HEP program.

The only difference is a night light so c&p

A “night light”(looks to be for friendly identification) and the “False canopy” as the CF-18/188 was the first plane to use it.

but then we get to the domestic programs to keep the thing alive for years after they should have died/been replaced.

Still C&P since these are skin changes basically.

I was agreeing with him about that! indeed any CF-18 based on when they were first in service would be C&P with visual differences. I was saying so since I used the phrase “Off the line” before talking about the unique versions because they went under domestic programs.

Someone here was using “CF-18(early)” to describe the C&P one.

Yeah that was me lol

Im still seriously doubting any indian aircraft and to be honest, I just dont think they’d fit cleanly (would be completely different to anything else on our tree, including weapon systems. Would be deeply confusing) not too mention totally unnecessary

I also reckon Gripen C would actually be in the FGR2 line, not Tornado line and CF-35 in the Tornado line instead.

FGR2 line is more multirole. Typhoon FGR4 could also end up in that line.

If the Sea Harrier FRS.1 wasn’t already a squad vehicle that slot would have been filled perfectly with a FRS.51.
Indian Mirages could find a good place in the british tree if the Atlas Cheetah gets added and their Jaguars could fit in well too. They also have a Gnat derivate, the HAL Ajeet and a very interesting Bomber/Interceptor, the HAL Marut, which strongly resembles british aircraft of the time (and uses british engines and guns)

I do agree tho that their MiGs and the SUs have no business getting added to the british tree.

but it would be funny

It sure would, especially if we were to receive something like the Su-30 before the russians

Yep, I’d say the Typhoon F.2 would go on the Tornado F.3 line since it doesn’t have A/G ordnance, while the FGR.4 would go to the Phantom FGR.2 line for being multirole.

SA’s Mirage 3CZ and Cheetah (depending on the version) would be perfect to fill our fighter gap between 9.7-11.0.

The Cheetah E would fit in there, the C is ARH capable, so I would put that into top tier depending on how ARHs get introduced
And well, the D is a trainer and slightly more capable attacker as it could deploy PGMs, so that would be pretty much another 11.3 strike jet

Need to top it off with moving Aussie Abrams to the UK and added an CAN leopard.

Yank jet through Canada or Australia. Swedish and French through SA. Russian through India.

Truely a tech tree of all time.

Yeah, the FRS51 SQV might not have been too bad. But I just dont think the Jaguars are necessary as we have 2 and at least 1-2 more still missing.

The Cheetahs/Mirages I think are unnecessary and would just clog the 10.7/11 bracket with stuff that could be filled with native aircraft, like the Spitfire thingy, Hawk, etc.

That HAL Ajeet thing sounds like the kind of thing they’d add as a premium or BP vehicle.

But for the most part I think they should refrain from it, we get so few additions per year as it is already. So far this year (and this is just from my memory so i’ve probably missed some bits)

Ground

Chally 2E
T-90
Vickers
M109
SARC
Churchill

So thats 1/3 of our potential native stuff replaced with other nations. The same would be true of air. We’ve gotten what 1 new aircraft this year. The Tornado F3

My greatest fear, is that instead of getting interesting British stuff, Even lower tier stuff, like the Gnat, more hunters, Vulcan, etc etc. We’ll get something from a random commonwealth nation. And our air tree will end up like the ground tree. Instead of getting the things we really need, like decent light tanks or IFVs. We’ve got somewhat un-needed and useless additions that sit in the exact same spot as something else. (Marksman and ZA-35 for example, instead of getting 2 identical vehicles, we could have gotten something at a different BR)

and before long. we end up in a situation like we are with British like tanks, Begging gaijin not to add a SA Light tanks or Indian MBT , but to add something like the Scorpion. But for air

“why do you want the Hawk, you just got a Cheetah”

“Why do you want the Typhoon, you just got an Indian Su-30”

Im all for stuff to come when it is necessary, as much as i htink a solution could be found, we probably do need something for top tier to come from another nation (though no harm in it being a sensible option like a CF-18). But im just terrified that for the next year or 2, our tree wont be padded out with British stuff, but Indian, Or SA, or [insert commonwealth nation here]

From what I saw it would be basically a Kfir Canard with Magic 1s, so 10.7 seems reasonable.

That’s a fair fear. Some of it could be lifted by give some of the commonwealth nations tech trees of their own.

The “Commonwealth” is just too broad of a scope. At this current moment in time, and me and @Deathmisser were playing this game a few months back. Almost every single top tier vehicle (about 80-90%), air, ground and heli could be added to the British TT. It was kinda insane exercise. In essence the British TT would cease to exist.

I really really hope they walk back some of their comments in the past few months, before long Britain TT will cease to exist.

No idea why this was flagged for inappropriate

Although ZA-35 is much better than the Marksman.
