The AV-8B harriers would actually be better than the UK ones.
Harrier II airframe, with an F-18 radar, so not bad. Better airframe, same armament. IIRC they’d have the same engine too.
Meanwhile the best Sea Harrier sure has a fantastic radar, but it would have the same missiles as an AV-8B but with worse flight performance, so once you inevitably get past a stalemate with the missiles you lose.
I’d best get my Phantom spaded, I’d been waiting to buy it till it gets 9L’s and then the sale rolled around so I got it half price but obviously still no 9L’s. Now to get to top tier I gotta buy all 4 jets in the rank and then go spade some Tornado’s before finally getting to a position to fly more tornado’s and harrier’s and then eventually getting a Typhoon which will have its IR missile gimped, mark my words.
I guarantee ASRAAM will not be better than the R27ET even though it should be.
Id even be more than happy in a completed Tornado Gr1. I actually enjoy the mud mover role on SB, and I want to love the Gr1, but it not only IS missing a mountain of mechanics but it feels like you are constantly playing with 1 hand tied behind your back.
What I’d give for full GMR, Chaff, ECM and loadout options on that! (Especially if it got the Gr1B upgrade too)

To be fair Gen 1 Harriers did have a higher straight line speed than Gen 2 Harriers. But that’s pretty much their only advantage.
I would love to see that. But this would be closer to the F-111 in terms of performance / playstyle.

If the Typhoon can not join now, I personally feel that the Canadian CF-188 fighter and the South African Gripen fighter will be more suitable

After all, the subsonic Sea Harrier FA2, even given its AIM-120 missile, would still be difficult to enjoy in top-level combat

Honestly, I won’t even bother researching it if all we are getting is an upgraded Tornado or Harrier.
I’m not going to if it is, I bought the FGR phantom in the sale for half price but i’m not going to fly it to grind the tree unless we get a Gripen of CF-18 or anything that is actually a fighter (not interceptor or attacker).
Otherwise not only will I be researching a fuck tonne of bombs that I don’t want, for the worst phantom in the game, but it’s also going to be doing all that for a fucking Tornado/Harrier lmao.
It would certainly be the more enjoyable of the options. If they add something that’s not a fighter this next major then the UK will firmly have the worst tech tree in all game modes, in the entire game.
Yep I agree, whilst it would have a fantastic radar its not going to give you that enjoyment that comes with being able to have a dogfight, or even the maneuverability to effectively notch radars.
This is very interesting when i found some where where they said if any sa aircraft would be premium i was told it would be surprising if it was a premium
I guess gaijin consider premium pack pre order aircraft rank VIII (8) 11.3-12.7 BR after introduce rank IX (9) for 4th gen fighter since 2003-2010’s era and 4+ gen fighter 12.7-13.3 BR
if the saaf was to be added it would most likely be a tech tree vehicle
