What about the Hawk 200, Harrier GR.9A, Tornado CSP and GR.4?
And if we are going for non british planes, the Mirage 2000I and Atlas Cheetah?
Pretty sure Typhoon Prototype is also out as they said “the game is not ready for it” a bit ago
Yup, Typhoon of any kind is off the table
I have a strong hunch that the next UK aircraft will be of UK domestic origin based on my conversation with Smin (again, he didn’t say that but just to be clear). So I’d bump the SHAR and Tornado and Hawk 200 all to likely, with the (C)F-18 and SAAF Gripen at unlikely, then any sort of Typhoon or any F-XX(UK) is also off the table
what he say
Yeah, based upon Germany’s recent history, if we do get a commonwealth aircraft, my bet is a C&P in the March update.
My money is still on the Sea Harrier FA2 as:
- Uses the same airframe as the FRS1
- Uses the engine from the Gr7
- Uses the radar (with some minor differences) from the Gripen C (expected next update)
- They’ve just spent the last 9 months researching and modelling the FRS1 and put in way more effort than they normally do for a lower tier TT filler (so the skeleton for the main major difference for the FA2 is already done, maybe they were modelling them in tandem)
It’s also the last chance for them to add it. If they dont add it now, then it will be a TT filler like the FRS1. Its the perfect entry into Fox 3.
I could see it also being coupled with a Tornado F3 CSP as well.
Whilst I’d also enjoy them, I think the Gr9A and Gr4 need Brimstone to be meaningful additions over their earlier counterparts and the game is not ready for that yet, but also not that far off either
Basically that the UK doesn’t require an AJ situation.
Because the Japanese operated the F-2 which is an F-16 derivative its a little bit different.
Other aircraft are already planned.
Oh and it was a one-off and the UK’s lack of a fighter is not the same as Japan lacking a 4th gen.
It is until you remember they said everyone will get Fox-3 simultaneously and the Soviet’s, Chinese, hell even the Swedish don’t have a shitty vehicle with AMRAAM’s in comparison to the harrier. Also we will still end up with one of the worst harriers, being a legacy harrier airframe, with the US and Italians getting a Harrier II with AMRAAM.
I dunno, honestly all the domestic options are less than impressive so i’m not sure what to expect, i suppose they see top tier as anything within a full BR so if the UK gets a SHAR at 12.3 whilst everyone else gets the F-15C with AIM-120A, SU-27 with R27ER and like 2 R-77 we would still have a ‘top tier’ in the most vague sense of the word.
You could think that it means that, both the UK has its own vehicles to be added, and it has other countries that are related to it in game that can also fill gaps. Japanese TT is by itself.
Perhaps. I reckon most gen 4s wont get Aim-120 for a little while. I think they’ll be limited to Gen 3s as much as possible . But we’ll see. But if they add F-15Cs with AMRAAM. Then we should get Typhoon and be done with it. So we’ll still have some ARH vs SARH at top tier.
The FA2 will certainly be a major underdog, but wont be DOA to the same degree as the F3 has been. With any luck, it will be carried by the Blue Vixen and cheeky VIFFs. Which can usually make the difference in a fight. From an SB perspective at least, it should be quite effective. in RB, i dont really have the recent experience to comment much
Someone is going to be left behind, not everyone has limited aircraft with FOX 3s, or at least early FOX 3s. PL-12 seems to be much better than early amraams, even on the J-8F, same as the MICA for example. Honestly I’m a little worried about what they’re going to do.
Yeah… I think it can be mitigated a little though. Like F-16C doesnt need AMRAAM but US could still get AMRAAM via AV-8B+
PL-12 and MICA is an interesting problem, but they might just nerf them for now and move on.
though maybe they’ll skip Aim-120Bs, give everyone Cs and equivlanet and call it a day
I’m confused, I don’t think that, that’s what Smin said to me when I asked about the possibility of an F-14K.
You want originality ->> use French doritos ^^"
I hope so, but I have no desire to play another Harrier or Tornado. It’s like the Spitfire’s at low tier but with even less variety.
Its also just a pain in the ass to use VFIF with a controller. And neither airframe can really ‘fight’ although the Harrier can pull some helicopter moves.
From what you said it was clear that the UK didn’t need an F-16AJ situation because they already have options of actually existing aircraft, but not specifically from the UK itself.
But I might be seeing things I want instead of what they actually mean lol.
Limiting BVRAAMs to gen 3 is the worst approach I could think of
Yeah, Dual Throttle HOTAS in SB makes VIFFing a doddle. I’d be more than happy with the FA2, but again that is from a SB perspective and I do enjoy the airframe.
That would completely break the game tho lol
