Bradley TOW Manual fold button

I couldn’t find a topic for this so I went ahead and created a new one.

I haven’t played other Ground nations except Germany (only in low-mid tiers) so if it is similar to the Bradley’s TOW, I was hoping a button to toggle the folding of the TOW manually. I’ve been in situations that the TOW would not open quick enough when I am right in front of an enemy. And this is when I know to where they are and expect them. Sometimes it wouldn’t fire because it is thinking of folding and unfolding when the enemy is just right in front of me. This would really save us in crucial fast-paced situations.

Additionally, the TOW could be set to fold automatically when reloading the munitions for it, then open back after the reload too. Either way, a button to manually fold and unfold would be really great. This will save a ton of effort for Bradley (and similar) users like us.

Doesn’t the other nations have something like this, especially in Russia?

I suppose you should create a suggestion post, this is not a fair topic only for discussion, because if this was added, would make the gameplay of vehicles like M3 Bradley, M3A3 Bradley, Shturm-S, Khrizantema-S and Strf 9040 B BILL much better.

There’s no such mechanic in-game at the moment, best examples Shturm-S and Khrizantema-S respective fold the missile launcher which consumes times and just drives with a huge ground radar and two missiles which is a great weakspot even at hull down position, if turning off the radar would fold it down making it easier to not be destroyed by ovepressuring in chemical weapons.

I was actually aiming for this to be under suggestions. Stupid of me to post it here. Will post one to Suggestions. Is there a way to close this post?

From what I can remember, no, but if you don’t mind search for something close to this topic.

it folds automatically irl to prevent damage to the launcher that could be caused by vibration/movement, it wont fold down and you can fire it on the move in the Battle CC mode (its broken in customs for the m3 and m3a3 though cause you cant turn using battle cruise control in customs)

btw the m901 also has this but the battle cc was removed a few updates ago

It should be able to keep it up at most speeds you are going in game. The auto folding thing is for highway/high speed travel.

no its for all-terrain, its why Bradley, during 73 easting, I had to drive at low speeds when engaging targets, besides the Bradley’s can’t even go typical highway speeds top speeds like 45 mph and highway speeds are 60+.

even moderate bumps can cause damage to the launcher due to how its built.

LMAO, guess the russian bots spam reported this

Actually the “drive at low speeds when engaging targets” mostly had somethings to do with ATGM wire. else they could waste missile just because wire were caught on something. Or the vehicle happen to be on the bumpy road or ditch in the way.

While yes moving on bumpy can cause damage to the launcher
But as tank barrels ingame do not suffer from collision. It feel a bit unfair to have this feature. And not even an option to let player manually control it even at low speed.

And the TOW launcher can be manually extended/retracted by the gunner, by the use of a switch.

I think it has more to do with how the “TOW” or other ATGM’s are controlled.
if you move compared to your target the missiles needs to “correct” all the time to keep in the middle of the sight. that would be less of a problem if the target is in front of you but if you move parallel to it the missile needs to correct more.

That is why i argued against helicopters with the same style weapons being able to fire them while moving at even greater speeds. most of the video’s i saw were BO-105 firing HOT from a hovering position never on the Move and why would you give up the range advantage that these weapons offer.

same style weapons? my man the uh-1C’s (yes more than 1) carries the 6 I-Tow (same thing but the missile is slightly better in its range and maneuverability)

Sorry, was referring to the control method. SACLOS, Tube Launched Optical tracked Wire Guided.

Welp compare to Helicopter . The ground launcher was likely to encounter more ground clutter (not to mention bumpy road or ditch) . So the wire getting caught on some things was more concern than accuracy problem.
And yes if you guided ATGM while moving. it will effect accuracy . This already got model in game where missiles will have to “correct its path” more . This can easily be seen when you moving side way.

There nothing prevent Gunner from firing ATGM while helicopter was on the move. (unless there are somekind of soft lock that prevent them from firing) So accuracy was the only concern.

Depending on doctrine / attack techniques . Soviet Hind did have a lot of maneuver attack training during cold war that included Low-level attack. So firing ATGM while moving wasn’t out of the question
