BR problems in russia tree

I don’t play ground so I can’t tell if your balance remarks are accurate. However, two things:

  • The balance doesn’t depend directly on historical background, but rather on performance, so your first remark is irrelevant.
  • Compression is a widespread issue among most tiers and modes, not just Russia. Many vehicles in the game will crush their opponents in a downtier and be steamrolled in uptiers.

Unoftunetly compresion is the issue here, these would be simply to op at 7.0/7.3
Besides production time is not something you should base vechicle br of. Vechciles like the pbv 301 or asu-57 fight vechicles made deacdes before and still perform pretty well
But as I said, decompresion is the only solution

As stated its a mix of performance and br compression. Br compression is a massive problem within WT and Gaijin take too long to actually address it. Personally i just dont give it thought and think it balances out with the way undertier and fake stuff/only properly modelled stuff they get at top tier.

the thing is thought I feel as if the balance should more or less focus more directly on historical background as you know it would make the game more “realistic”

Tweaking vehicle stats away from real stats counts as realism?

not stats but BR, like make it so tanks would fight vehicles of its own era and not tanks from different eras in time bc it ends up fighting vehicles which are much stronger than those it was supposed to be fighting in real life

so… make the game more unbalanced by matching tanks with others tanks of their era much superior to them?
The whole point of balance is to match vehicles based only on how good they actually are

dude an IS4 fighting a fuckass conqueror is not balanced

I’m not saying it is, stop moving the goalposts. I’m saying historical context is irrelevant to balance. The AD/A-1 served through the Vietnam war, would it be fair to match it with F-4s and MiG-21s?
My point is not that insert whatever you find unbalanced is balanced, I’m just saying your argument is irrelevant

Historical context should be the relevant thing when it comes to balancing because tell me how a vehicle from ww2 can fight a vehicle from cold war make it make sense

I don’t think you understand how bad the conq is. It will shell shatter 1/2 the time on is4s and take 2-3 pens to kill it since it has no postpen. Meanwhile the is4 ohks back on the lfp or roof.

Nearly nothing at 6.7 can fight an is4. most of the reasonable heat throwers have been moved to 7.0 or higher. Nearly none of the AP/aphe rounds are effective. Even 300 pen HEAT isn’t good. Trying to say it sholud be a lower br is insane.

Again, totally irrelevant. Historical tank development is neither linear nor symetrical. If you researched anything on historical tank battles you know that one side often shredded the other due to superior tank design, and forced the opponent to make a new tank to compare.
Germans had a pretty bad time against KV-1s and T-34s until they got Tigers and Panthers iirc (I’m not very knowledgeable on tanks though so it might be inaccurate, but that’s just an example)

and yet the KV1 is in a br where it will be less likely for it to face a tiger or a panther

If that’s problematic, that’s something else. But please tell me you got my point

OooooOOOOoooOoh a Russia suffers post! This is new from the constant “Russia bias” spam. Refreshing :)

The entire concept of pitching vehicles against other vehicles they could or would have fought historically as a replacement for performance is a horribly flawed idea. You would end up with M4 Shermans (with 75 mm gun) pitched regularly against Tiger II’s and Jagdtigers, T-26’s and T-28’s vs more capable Pz.IV’s, Pz. III’s, and Stugs, and a plethora of other situations in which the tech imbalance causes such bad overkill that players wouldn’t even need to cheat in order to get massively unfair advantages.

This idea would actually make numerous nations in the game (e.g. USA) completely unplayable, and you would only see the now super OP nations exclusively in battle.

That’s not balance.

are you just disabled or some shit? What I mean by Historical Placement is not fighting vehicles that are 20 years older than the tank you are playing like in the case of ww2 era vehicles you get stronger vehicles from ww2 being in higher BRs due to them being stronger and facing relativily same opponents like IS2 vs Tiger II not Sherman 75s going against jagdtigers. This is obviously not the case when you go into Rank V of russia where most vehicles are before 1950 and are seen fighting 1960s tech like the IS4M fighting the AMX30 or Gepard

well yeah when youre a tank from 1946 with the same cannon as the IS2 fighting vehicles from a whole different time era you start to believe the tank suffers

Nah, this is just a skill issue. They have already explained why he is wrong, the person who created this post.
