Is 1 BR between 0.3-0.4 or is 1 BR just 1
goes up a BR = +0.3/0.4
goes up 1 BR = +1.0
It can be very confusing sometimes because usually people refer to a BR being +1.0 but Gaijin and community managers like to use it anotherway.
There’s also “br step” for 0.3 and “br bracket” for 1.0
It is a little confusing, but instead of numbers, think of the changes as “steps”
What they did was make things in thirds(1/3) and since they only carry out one spot
past the decimal, they did some “rounding off”
Normally that would not be an issue, but with thirds, you really need to go at least
2 spots.
The first “step” after a whole number is shown as 1.3 . . it is actually 1.33, rounded down
The second step is shown as 1.7, when it really is a 1.66 . … rounded up
Going up on one and down on the other makes it confusing, even for people good with numbers
And while I am not sure, I feel like this is also a reason that those clamoring for a 0.7 BR
spread for the matches can’t have their way. As 1.7 - 2.3 is just 0.6 and would not fit in a 0.7
configuration.
There is prolly more to it, but programming may not have the ability to discern those subtle differences.
At any rate, to get a smaller spread for the matches, it seems like they would have to
change how it is all set up, like adding a 0.5 in there
Example: 1.0 - 1.25 - 1.50 - 1.75 - 2.0 and so on
You could then have a 0.75 spread and at the same time, decompress the BR ranges
from bottom to top all at the same time, however . . .
That would require an insane amount of work and in the end . . . . players would still
complain and no one knows if it would even help anything.
But one side effect that is almost certain with any changes like this, no matter what
they are is this . . . queue times would inevitably get/be longer and we all know . .
Gaijin won’t do that
So, thinking of the them as “steps” rather than hard, fixed numbers can make it all
seem a little less rigid and more flexible . . . and you don’t have to think as hard(always good!)
