History and introduction
At the Eurosatory 2018 exhibition in Paris, the German company Rheinmetall Defense presented a demonstrator of the wheeled artillery system Oerlikon Skyranger Boxer. The car is based on the chassis of the GTK Boxer wheeled armored personnel carrier with a turret Oerlikon Skyranger Rheinmetall Air Defense is responsible for the concept of the new mobile anti-aircraft system. One series was limited to 200 shots The gun can be powered by four types of 35 mm AHEAD ammunition. These are the PMD062 with 152 sub-munitions, the PMD330 with 497 sub-munitions, the PMD375 with 860 sub-munitions and the PMD428 with over 600 sub-munitions. The gun can fire armor-piercing-fragmentation (FADS) or APFSDS-T. The dual feed system allows the operator to use two types of ammunition simultaneously.
