I learned through a combination of Gameplay experience, DCS experience and Combat footage (mainly RAF pilots and a handful of american ones) but a majority of it just comes from learning the skill set required to adapt to war thunder’s revolving meta and the enviroment of ARB and SB

I am also a part of the Dogfighting (1vs1) community and usually learn and implement strategies that would be too risky to try in a match while fighting another player

Thank you.

Wow, you have encountered a ground player, plus I only got a keyboard in the last year or two so my long term KD has been cooked from years of controller suffering, if you want reference aircraft for my current skill level, go and look at my stats for the chinese top tier aircraft and not my overall performance since that will take me a while to recover and atm i really don’t feel like playing air.

Cross reference that with my time spent in customs and I can explain that I have been running BVR/Dogfighting LFG posts for a good while, these are a more controlled environment than Air RB and I would much rather spend time fighting other people of my skill level or relatively close to it to improve, instead of playing a fundamentally flawed game mode

Hidden as imho off-topic

I recommend using the certified Thrustmaster Hotas if you want to give Air RB a second chance in the future. I fly with Simplified Flight Controls and instructor sliders “off”. Full real controls are an overkill in Air RB, but i fully agree that using a controller in Air RB is suicide.

Your will have massive accuracy disadvantages (=you have to avoid headons & there are no point + click runs vs ground targets) vs mouse aimers, but the HOTAS will give you a way better handling in turnfights and with the “right” settings, the “right” tactics / strategy and a good energy management you can outturn way better turning aircraft.

I have zero problems to turnfight XP-50s in my 7 ton SM 92.

Whilst Iyour approach looks reasonable (as your assessment of the game mode Air RB at least for jets & top tier) there are niches in the game mode which allow you to you have fun & a challenge at the same time.

My son became somehow addicted to “missile thunder” - he likes the high paced game play there - i fly props only as i like being the weapon instead of just carrying them.

That was the main reason why i replied.

It was not comprehensible for me why you wrote your initial comment - so either you are a tanker main and you don’t care about aircraft (and book recommendations about ACM) - or you do care but you are no friend of books.

Have a good one!
